genuinely what do they think a data center is? his podcast wouldn't exist without data centers. this post wouldn't exist without data centers. mass retardation psychosis or whats actually going on here? why is there such hate against something they clearly don't understand?
Marco Foster@MarcoFoster_

Theo Von: “Nobody wants a data center dude. And the people that want them to me, they seem kind of evil. Nobody wants this shit. One of these companies is gonna own all of this information. There’s gonna become this social or emotional credit score and then AI is gonna try to become our new God”

@tekbog i think that if you are good at your job it's very cheap to become good at interviews

tech interviews keep being an exam you can prep and a skill you can develop, even at frontier labs and everywhere else but that just brings back the eternal question of how good the person is at the job vs how good the person is interviewing for jobs

@tekbog Y'know the moment something like fable is back in the hands of enterprises, does it *matter* how good an engineer is at their job? Complexity as table stakes hasn't reached big orgs yet stuff like meta or atlassian it's more of a clout/culture test

@tekbog I don't do coding interviews. I'll do tons of system design but I just don't do well with live coding. I've worked at FAANG, if they want you they'll find a way to bring you in.

@usr_bin_roygbiv well, maybe you will get a cheap house in 30 years, if you don't buy it now. but maybe not

explaining to people why taking on a 30 year mortgage for a 95% leveraged asset with a declining population and a median buyer age of 58 for a house is a bad idea

Girls from the US are a lot more attractive than EU simply because the gene pool was devastated during WW2. All the good genes died in war, while the physically unfit stayed back and reproduced. Genetics are the number one factor in looks, but Looksmaxing still can bring success. So im going to offer my looksmaxing course 50% off to the French because not only do they need it, but they also cant afford it at full ticket.

and yeah you ARE supposed to fall asleep on command during the Quiet Hour in a Russian kindergarten. A certain kind of psychopractice… but at the very least you get good at lying. For life.

> No coercion: if you want you can sleep, otherwise you just lie still. Chinese style: don't force, give a choice, let children develop confidence… This is comical but it's actually very telling about Russian kindergartens. Yeah we wouldn't suffer much in the Chinese Century

This is a bit of personal insight for Russian mothers who are planning to send their children to school in China.

Instead of attacking Yandex, perhaps the EU might ask why its own member states have failed to produce anything comparable. Russia built a domestic tech ecosystem covering search, maps, taxis, delivery, cloud, AI, voice assistants and local services. The EU, with far more money and a much larger market, mostly relies on the likes of Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and Uber and essentially functions as a digital colony of the United States.
EUvsDisinfo@EUvsDisinfo

Yandex was once presented as one of Russia’s most successful technology companies.   Over time, however, it was transformed through legislative pressure, censorship, and increasing state influence into a key part of Moscow’s disinformation environment.   The story of Yandex illustrates how control over information increasingly depends on digital infrastructure, not just traditional media.

@BrianMcDonaldIE Your current assessment is correct, but things are changing. National governments are switching OS from Windows to Linux (Finnish). France's civil service uses a French AI tool and ditched Palantir's product. Zoom & Teams are being phased out across the continent by states.

@ThePrimeagen looping is pretty great when you for example need to change dependency A to B with different interface, and change all occurrences, used it once for pretty big refactoring, couldn't believe it worked from the first time, all integration tests passed

If you’re a founder and don’t know who this guy is, you should definitely learn about him. Because for me he’s a crazy example of resilience. He’s a Russian entrepreneur that built one of the best, mobile app first banks in Russia. He’s also one of the first ones who spoke up against the war when it started, got sanctioned and forced by Russian government to sell the bank for 5% of its price. Now he built a brand new modern bank in Mexico, for Mexicans, has over 4million users and growing. The definition of staying true to yourself and keeping building no matter what His name is Oleg Tinkov
