Lee Kuan Yew: "I ignore polling as a method of government. I think that shows a certain weakness of mind. An inability to chart a course. Whichever way the wind blows, whichever way the media encourages the people to go, you follow. You're not a leader."

This explains what Lee Kuan Yew observed in 2011 when he said: “I have to speak candidly to be of value, but I do not wish to offend the Muslim community. I think we were progressing very nicely until the surge of Islam came, and if you asked me for my observations, the other communities have easier integration – friends, intermarriages and so on, Indians with Chinese, Chinese with Indians – than Muslims. That’s the result of the surge from the Arab states. I would say today, we can integrate all religions and races except Islam.” This specific attitude is anathema to pluralistic democratic societies. If the government tolerates Islamic exceptionalism, then the social fabric frays which destabilizes society. And if you think totalitarian ethnostates would welcome the refusal to assimilate, may I remind you of what is going on in Xinjiang, China.

@CriticasterUK @kellabyte What do you mean by "additional context that could be inferred indirectly if the tooling was improved"? How tooling can solve this?

@kellabyte It's so dumb, logs are meant to be low cost, low effort and low maintenance. Structured logging throws that all away for a small amount of of additional context that could be inferred indirectly if the tooling was improved.

Am I the only one who feels conflicted about structured logging? Whenever I look at logs in half of the observability tools it’s hard to view on the screen and JSON sucks. But advocating for an unstructured logging format these days would get you murdered I feel in most orgs.

@thekitze @SimonHoiberg Pole detected. Of course you’re wondering, because polish villages look like bombed Ukrainian cities after 4 years of war. Take a few trips across Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland — the real Europe you know, and you’ll see what civilisation could be built

@affaanmustafa It seems to me like they didn’t choose to disassociate until Delve took their customer’s code (another yc company). YC partners were supporting the crisis response posts from Delve when it was just fraud. Looks like fraud is okay at YC but you can’t screw other yc companies

Delve got kicked out of YC: likely after more details emerged that they likely stole the IP of a fellow Y Combinator company (SimStudio) and ripped off another (Oneleet) I still think Y Combinator should say something in public on why they kicked them out. Silence == speculation
