Today I ran in a 5K to raise awareness for the dangers of Fentanyl 💜 The reason I signed up for this race is because of something I don’t talk about much. My older sister. She is addicted to meth, she lives on the streets, and has been saved more than once by Narcan. One day I know I’m going to get the call, so I just appreciate any time I do get to see her, which is rare. What I didn’t expect is the extent of impact this event would have on me. Tears were rolling down my face as brave parents spoke on the loss of their children due one little cave in to peer pressure. Those parents, and other loved ones who have lost someone to Fentanyl, gathered on the track carrying blue balloons, with pictures of the ones they’ve lost lined across the fences. In that moment, emotions were running through me. I could see and feel their pain, and passion to help prevent someone else from going through such a tragedy. While high school and college students are the primary victims, this can happen to anyone of any age. Do NOT take any pills from anyone other than a licensed pharmacist who filled a prescription from your doctor. One little pill can be laced with enough Fentanyl to kill you. Narcan (or Naloxone) can save someone who took a drug laced with Fentanyl, or suffering from an overdose. I did not know this, but you can order doses online for FREE to have on hand, and you may just save someone’s life. It could be a high schooler who just wanted to fit in, caved to peer pressure, and took a pill to have fun. But little did they know, that mistake could cost them their life. I went into this thinking I would just complete the 5K with no expectations. But I truly ran this for them. It pushed me and I didn’t expect to get the results I did. But I know it’s because they were all with me every step of the way. My goal of this post is exactly what the race was for - to raise awareness for the dangers of Fentanyl. If you have taken the time to read this, then you are part of the solution. Please share this info anyone you know. You can help save someone’s life and honor those who have lost their lives. I think I can speak for most of them - That is what they would have wanted 💜 #fentanyl #savelives
