The 1916 Rising can’t be properly understood without knowing about the War of Independence and the Treaty. While if students choose this option they will not learn about the foundation of the state, dismantling the Treaty or Ireland during WW 2 and becoming a Republic

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

This is a genuine question. What things should government be doing differently across specific public policy areas? Should spending be re-directed to particular activities?

I’m really struggling to understand what these guys want. They have done some admirable work. But in respect of the social contract public spending has virtually doubled in less than a decade. Ireland has a highly distributionist welfare model. So, what specifically do they want?

@DavQuinn We have been conditioned to think that there is no alternative (TINA). It truth the alternatives presented to the electorate (SF, Soc Dem, Lab and Greens) are a more extreme version of the mess we have. There is a dearth of political leaders in the country-No vision or competence

Some kind of systems malfunction has developed in Irish democracy whereby the Government seems incapable or unwilling to pick up voter signals and the same is happening to so-called 'representative groups' like the IFA.

The current Leaving Cert history course allows students the option of studying Ireland from 1912 - 1949 and Northern Ireland. The new curriculum does not allow students to study both but even more bizarrely the options split the “Irish Revolution 1912-23” in 2. 🤷‍♂️
