Rangers have to get rid of Skip Schumaker. He can’t manage a game to save his life. Puts a guy in against the Padres in the 10th inning with a 10.00 ERA and immediately gives up a bomb to Machado.

This all goes back to the slip on the on-deck circle in April. He has continued to pitch through it, even as it has gotten worse. #Rangers aren’t sure how they will make Tuesday work, but expect an opener.

And then also rarely admits mistakes and doubles down on his bad decisions. Arrogance and no instincts is a terrible combination. Sick of it.

@RightOnRangers Good/Great managers and head coaches have an instinct. It is, to a large degree, pushing buttons. The good ones push the right button at the right time. It's a "feel", an instinct that guides them to the right button. Skip DOES NOT have it.

Subbing Díaz in after the Burger HR would have saved that game for Texas. Just a complete melt from Higgy defensively in that frame that gave the Padres life. It makes so little sense to me why Skip would sub Díaz for Higgy in the 10th, but not in the 8th. Even in a weird world where you like Higgy’s bat astronomically more than Díaz’s, I don’t think anyone questions who’s the better defender.

The Rangers have two bullpen arms that they can trust with a lead, and one of them wasn’t even a thought to close out late innings at the beginning of the season. We often laud CY for bullpen construction. But the reality is, without the incredibly fortunate emergence of Jacob Latz, wheels would be completely off at this point.
