Heaven help the infrastructure that the U.S. plans to build in Africa and Asia in order to wrest trade routes away from China. It will cost more to ensure the lives of workers on those projects than the insurance premiums charged for ships accessing the Strait of Hormuz. I wouldn’t fancy America’s chances of getting rare earths from the DRC, for example.
