@CalabarMayor @olumidecapital Lafarge is there because of the raw material. How do you take a petroleum refinery there simply because there are rumours of the presence of oil and gas deposits or a proposed seaport that may not see the light of day?

The host community has Lafarge and lots of stone based companies with no community land disputes, it has good proximity to bakasi which has access to the Atlantic Ocean and proposed deep sea port and there are rumours of oil and gas deposit around these areas. So tell me what makes you think it’s not suitable?

Nearness to raw material, same reason UNICEM took their cement plant to Akamkpa not Calabar. This thing is simple economic.

The moment those components are ready, the civil works will start and the components will start coming in for installation. So you all should rest, the process is still on.

I no want talk Uyo does not record more than 4 flights on a normal day. Some days only 2 flights Uyo at this level just needs an air strip not an airport. There are airports with 500 flights a day that don't have that level of infrastructure in Uyo. Pure Waste

DAKADA SKILLS CENTER GRADUATES 568 MORE AKWA IBOM YOUTHS IN 3RD COHORT The Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) has graduated 568 youths in its third cohort, marking another milestone in Akwa Ibom State’s drive toward youth empowerment and human capital development. With an additional 206 trainees expected to graduate in the next batch, the centre’s current intake stands at 774 young people trained across nine different faculties and departments. Representing Governor Umo Eno at the ceremony, Deputy Governor Sen. Dr. Akon Eyakenyi described DASAC as a key pillar of the administration’s commitment to enterprise development, wealth creation, and reducing insecurity through skills acquisition. She noted that the initiative complements other programmes such as the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Centre, Youth Development Centres in all 31 local government areas, and the ARISE Tech Talent Accelerator Programme, which aims to equip 1.5 million youths with globally relevant digital skills over the next five years. The Deputy Governor encouraged the graduates to use their newly acquired skills to build prosperous futures and contribute to the state’s economy. She disclosed that graduates from agriculture, hospitality, ICT, engineering, automobile, metal, and wood technology programmes would play strategic roles in supporting Akwa Ibom’s agricultural revolution and staffing major state-owned projects, including the ARISE International Convention Centre, Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Arise Palm Resort, and the ARISE Shopping City. DASAC Rector, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, commended Governor Umo Eno for prioritizing human capital development under the ARISE Agenda, describing investment in people as the foundation for sustainable growth. She urged more young people to take advantage of the programme, announcing that registration for the fourth cohort will commence in July 2026, while the Governing Council reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining DASAC as a leading talent incubation hub in Nigeria.

So a situation where the people keep threatening the investors about the location, a wise investor will pull out to avoid stories.
