Fixing the other side of the budget would be more politically attractive fix the liability side of the balance sheet and then we can determine whether you have a problem and what options may exist. Furloughs, layoffs, and default are all other options you could consider. Whistle blow on fraud and collect the 10% recovery or whatever it is. That’s gotta be getting lucrative.

We have two options before us: budgets built on regressive revenue gimmicks that squeeze the working class and leave the City with huge budget shortfalls, but which please the ultra-rich and big corporations; OR we pass progressive revenue that is proving to perform beyond our initial projections and that goes straight into improving the daily lives of our working communities.

The pandemic and response showed how close we are to an Orwellian society to those paying attention. The rise of AI makes that reality a significantly greater risk. Then it broke public trust in the healthcare system and within the healthcare system. That grinds everything in society to a hault. Health and shelter are 2 of those basic needs. Speaking of shelter, the Orwellian response completely transformed the economic and financial landscape. Velocity of money has increased to drive a greater wealth inequality and drive an asset bubble. Take all that together and this pandemic is on a course to completely derail humanity. There’s no real way to hold Fauci accountable. Can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. It would garnish some good faith in restoring integrity to the system though. Otherwise I’m hopeful Elon gets to interplanetary civilization before the total collapse.

No one talks about Covid more than Rogan. I checked his last 15 shows - he mentioned the pandemic in 12 of the 15. Like many of us, he is not moving on. Here’s a clip from his recent interview with @TonyHinchcliffe.

@cc37876 @ChicagoContrar1 Semantics are what you want to argue here?!?! People died under his watch. He’s happy it wasn’t more. And also concerned with the death of a single person in Houston. Please move on. You are making everyone dumber by being here.

@AutismCapital I’ve wondered this with the focus on flock cameras. It doesn’t seem to far fetched to image where the cameras aren’t needed. Mesh together data from phones, CCTV systems, ring doorbells, etc. and they could track every movement with infrastructure people willingly buy and use.

Guys this has to stop. This story doesn't end well. This story ends with everyone frozen in place, a figurative rock, unable to move, think, act in any way for fear that it will be captured and broadcast to the entire earth. Paranoia so ubiquitous and deeply internalized that the body literally just shuts down. Pair this technology alongside our inevitable technocommunist social credit dystopian hell society and this is the saddest nightmare you can imagine.

Every time you get behind the wheel, there's a good chance a private company is building a record of where you've been. That's an invasion of privacy. As governor, I'll ban Flock mass surveillance cameras.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson says there's budget trouble ahead, with City Hall halfway through its fiscal year — his warning: The 2026 budget is $130 million short. The mayor pins the underperformance on revenue passed by his City Council opponents. Details: ( wgntv.com/news/politics/… )

But a much more expensive a ticket if you're in the passing lane and a car behind you is forced to slow down. The German law makes a ton of sense. You don't pass on the right because it's dangerous. You don't go slow in the left lanes because it's deadly. Really the greatest driving experience.

The biggest threat to Chicago isn't crime or taxes It's the Big Ten grads pipeline slowing down Chicago has the largest concentration of Big Ten alumni of any metro in America For decades... Graduate from Champaign, Bloomington, Iowa City or Madison in May, sign a lease in Lincoln Park or Lakeview by June. Like clockwork for decades. Those grads got jobs at consulting firms, Fortune 500 companies, law firms, trading shops, tech startups, etc. Now that the same 22-year-old is considering Dallas, Nashville, Austin, Atlanta, or Miami. Decades ago, we never really competed against those cities for Big 10 grads, now we do. Fix crime. Fix the schools. Make it business-friendly or watch the next generation of entrepreneurs build somewhere else. Don't keep taxing us more, grow the tax base. That's how Chicago wins.

@illinoispolicy Not sure you can just pin taxes based on that statistic (while definitely a major reason). 95% left for states with lesser tax burdens leaves the question; where did the 5% go? Not many if any domestic options that would have a higher burden.

Illinois is actively bleeding its future workforce, and state leaders are not paying enough attention. While the rest of the country is seeing modest shifts in youth demographics, Illinois is experiencing a full-blown exodus of young families. From 2020 to 2025, the under-20 population in Illinois fell by 6.8%. That rate is more than three times faster than the national average decline of 2%. The growth gap extends to every young professional demographic: >The population of 20-somethings grew by 4.3% nationally, but only 1% in Illinois. >The population of 30-somethings grew by 4.7% nationally, but a mere 0.5% in Illinois. >The population in their 40s grew by 5.5% nationally, but only 1.2% in Illinois. Why are they leaving? High taxes. In 2024, a staggering 95% of those who moved out fled to states with lower tax burdens. Unless Springfield reigns in the state's terrible tax environment (ideally through pension reform), the demographic crisis will escalate.

The only difference are Trump isn’t on Ozempic allegedly and he didn’t rip out his golden toilets. Both have Epstein ties, trust fund idiots, and robbing the public for their own benefit. The D&R are meant to distract. They’re the same breed of we need to invent a stronger rope for the weight kind of politician.

@ChicagosMayor You’re creating the mental health crisis. The least you could do is provide services for the damage you’ve done to overall mental wellbeing of the city. Mass crime, violence, and economic strain are a root cause for most of the mental health problems. That’s on you boss.
