According to Orange County’s budget documents (available on their website) their General Fund Budget for 2019/20 was approved at $1.042 Billion. For 2024/25 they approved 1.601 Billion. This difference is approximately $559 million. See below 👇

Orange County is blaming the $330M property tax increase on 81,000 increase in population. That’s a $4,000 per capita increase. A family of four is a $16,000 increase. That’s NOT fiscal conservatism. I pay $30,780.00 a year for health insurance, with a max out of pocket of $18,500.00 (not including copays at the counter), for the missus and I, so you'll have to excuse me if I seem unmoved that you're losing your free healthcare, that somehow I also pay for.

Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of “Slava Ukraini” protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared. I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.) It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person.
