The NBA is investigating the Milwaukee Bucks for tanking. The Bucks are 6 games (ahead) from moving up one spot in the draft. There are 5 games left. It clearly has nothing on to do with tanking and everything to do with keeping their trade-demanding star healthy going into the offseason.

@DanRShafer @TiWindisch Think whatever you want about it but the fact is he’s not signing an extension and isn’t being cool about it. And the decision was not made yesterday.

@TiWindisch The fork in the road is clearly coming this offseason, that can’t be denied. But the best outcome for the Bucks is keep Giannis and build around him, and letting him play a couple late season games if he’s healthy is not an unreasonable request to accommodate.

I reject the premise. I don’t want the Bucks to trade Giannis. BUT if the organization is sitting him to avoid injury (when he says he isn’t hurt and is doing full pre-game warmups), drawing the ire of NBA brass ready to crack down on tanking also carries a huge amount of risk.

This very much feels like the crafting of the narrative for asking out in the offseason and trying to deflect “blame”. The sad thing is it’s just making things so much worse. I think 90% of Bucks fans wouldn’t have blamed him if a typical trade request was made.

I get where Giannis is coming from. Players want to play. He wants to play with his brothers. I also get where the Bucks are coming from. The guy has given a dozen interviews about leaving Milwaukee. If he tears something they’re beyond screwed. Tough spot for everybody.

@MatthewMKE98 Pratt is almost certainly going to be a SS. Made probably plays 3rd. Guessing Fischer would move to 1B. Jett could be 2B, CF, or super util. Wilken might be a good trade deadline piece if he plays well at AAA.
