An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training. In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table. The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City. Clubs in the English Football League are set to vote on plans to expand the Championship play-offs to six teams at an extraordinary general meeting on March 5. The proposal would follow a similar format to the National League play-offs, with the team that finishes fifth playing the eighth-place team and sixth meeting seventh in one-off ties at the home ground of the higher finishing club. The winners would then progress to a two-legged semi-final tie against the teams who finished in third and fourth, before the final at Wembley for a place in the Premier League. BREAKING New Mexico’s Chief Medical Examiner says that Gene Hackman most likely died on February 18 due to heart disease, with advanced Alzheimer’s disease being a contributing factor. His wife, Betsy, predeceased him, with the Medical Examiner placing her death on February 11, which means he lived with her body in the house for a week. The cause of death for Betsy Hackman is hantavirus, a very rare but serious virus spread by rodents. The pills found around Betsy Hackman’s body were for thyroid medication and were not the cause of her death.
