During the Post-AU Summit diplomatic dialogue yesterday in Addis Ababa, I raised the urgent need for a persuasive AU sanction regime against coup administrations that organize elections and easily return to power. Suspensions alone cannot deter coups. #39thAUSummit

Thanks BK for the hard questions. In a world where the geopolitical map is being redrawn, Africa can’t afford photo-ops at others’ summits. Our leaders must regroup, speak with one voice & leverage our minerals, markets & youth for real gains , not selfies. ✊🏿

There were more of you in attendance in Tokyo at a country-convened summit than we often see of you at your own African Union Heads of State and Government summits. Is this normal?Is this a reflection of your attitude towards your own institutions? Our Patriotic, Fearless Pan-African Leadership, tell us , were Africa's debts cancelled in Japan? Or did you get trillions of dollars worth of investments into manufacturing, green industrialization projects for green jobs, and transnational infrastructure? Did you solve financing for African Union Mega Projects ? Servants of the masses of African peoples , did you get concessionary finance for climate adaptation and just energy transition from Tokyo? Are you bringing back home massive technology transfer deals worth billions ? Did you resolve intellectual property rights with the hosts over Kiondo ? Dear Sirs, What are you bringing back home ? We saw the impressive photos and selfies ,you looked happier than you do back home , but is that all?

On the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, I joined France 24 for a live interview to discuss the ongoing conflict in the DRC. No viable military solution to this crisis. African & global stakeholders must intensify diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire.
