@KenSimCity Fireworks are a nightmare for most dogs. They cause fear, stress,and can lead to pets escaping and becoming lost or injured, and wildlife fleeing their habitats. They can suffer from chemical poisoning if they ingest debris from exploded fireworks. Put the $ to better use!

The cancellation of the Celebration of Light is devastating news. I’m incredibly disappointed that senior levels of government have chosen to cut their funding by 80%. The City of Vancouver provides $1.6 million in services every year to make this event possible, and we remain fully committed to upholding our financial contributions. We’ll be pushing hard for the Federal and Provincial governments to restore this funding and explore other options so our city doesn't lose one of our most loved, free summer events.

@EastVanBuilder While not many uses would survive as a stand alone neighbourhood corner, locally owned convenience stores, coffee shops or bakeries would. They reduce car trips, and add to the community. I miss the Montreal depanneurs.

Neighbourhood coffee shops, grocery stores, convenience stores and small shops. Do you want to see them in residential areas? 1.) Yes, build them everywhere let's go! 2.) Yes, but in a measured way with neighbourhood approval. 3.) No, it's not right for single family zones!
