For too long, Vancouver was falling behind on the basics. Years of underinvestment left roads and sidewalks cracked, damaged, and increasingly difficult to navigate for families, seniors, and those with mobility challenges. That's why your ABC Vancouver team is taking a different approach. We're investing a record $104 million in roads and sidewalk upgrades across Vancouver — more than three times the investment made by previous administrations. When Vancouverites pay their taxes, they expect reliable core services. That's exactly what we're delivering. An affordable city. A safe city. And a city that works for you. Let's keep Vancouver moving forward. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

Despite the City's efforts and repeated calls for action, the Province has still not followed through on its commitment to remove the provincially operated SROs from Granville Street. At the same time, it continues to pursue plans for a drug consumption site at 900 Helmcken. Councillor Peter Meiszner met down with Alan Goodall, owner of Aura Nightclub, to hear firsthand how repeated flooding and ongoing issues associated with the nearby provincially operated SRO have affected his business. Alan shared just how difficult it has been to operate and invest in downtown while dealing with these ongoing challenges. Your ABC Vancouver team believes downtown Vancouver should be a safe, vibrant place where people can visit, enjoy a night out, support local businesses, and where business owners can operate with confidence. We're committed to continuing the work of making Vancouver safe and affordable, revitalizing our entertainment district, and standing up for the businesses, residents, and workers who make downtown such an important part of our city. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

It was great to be out on the field today celebrating the final World Cup match hosted here in Vancouver with your ABC Vancouver team. We were joined by some incredible guests, including Christine Sinclair. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this such an unforgettable tournament: from our volunteers and first responders to our local businesses, residents, and the thousands of fans who celebrated safely and responsibly. While Vancouver's hosted matches have come to a close, the tournament continues. We look forward to watching the rest of the games with you at Fan Fest, on patios, in our neighbourhoods, and wherever you're cheering on your favourite team. Your ABC Vancouver team is committed to keeping Vancouver safe and affordable while continuing to invest in the vibrant public spaces and events that bring our city together. We're so proud that Vancouver had the opportunity to welcome the world and showcase everything that makes our city so special. We can't wait to enjoy the rest of the tournament with you all! #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

It was great catching up with Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung at the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone, which ABC just extended through Labour Day! Sarah spoke about how your ABC Vancouver team has been focused on revitalizing public spaces across Vancouver: Granville Street, Chinatown, Gastown, and neighbourhood plazas throughout the city. These investments are creating vibrant spaces where families can spend time together, support local businesses, and affordably enjoy their communities. Just as importantly, we've backed these improvements with record investments in public safety to help ensure Vancouver's neighbourhoods are welcoming and safe for everyone. We're proud to be making Vancouver safe and affordable while investing in the public spaces, neighbourhoods, and core services that make our city such a great place to live, work, and visit. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

It's been difficult hearing from residents across Vancouver about how ignored they feel by the provincial government and Vancouver Coastal Health when it comes to their own safety and the safety of their employees. Sunan Spriggs, owner of CityLux Boutique, shared how her staff often have to lock the door while at work and don't feel safe travelling to and from their jobs. No one should have to work under these conditions. Vancouver residents and business owners deserve to feel safe while living, working, and supporting their families. Your ABC Vancouver team is committed to standing up for safer communities and opposing dangerous provincial drug policies, including those being forced on the neighbourhood surrounding the proposed 900 Helmcken site. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

We could not be more proud of Team Canada. What an incredible journey. Team Canada has given Canadians something truly special. You've inspired a country, made history, and shown the world what Canadian determination looks like. As we continue to enjoy this incredible tournament, we'll carry Team Canada's historic run with us. I couldn't be more proud of our players—or of our city. Vancouver continues to welcome the world with open arms, and together we've celebrated safely while creating memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Team Canada, for believing, competing, and making Canadians proud every step of the way. Go Canada Go! 🇨🇦 #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

It was great catching up with Neil Wyles, Executive Director of the Mount Pleasant BIA, to hear about the revitalized Mount Pleasant plaza and the positive response it's received from local residents, businesses, and visitors. Neil has been a tremendous champion for the businesses and community that make Mount Pleasant such a vibrant neighbourhood. I'm proud that the City has been able to support his work and invest in spaces that bring people together while supporting our local businesses. Your ABC Vancouver team is committed to making Vancouver safe and affordable, while continuing to invest in the core services and public spaces that matter to you—places where you can gather with friends and family and enjoy the unique neighbourhoods that make Vancouver so special. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability   @sarahkirby_yung

Granville Street came alive this summer, and we're keeping that momentum going! Council has approved extending the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone and eligible temporary patios through Labour Day, giving local businesses greater certainty, supporting jobs, and helping us gather more data as we build a safer, more vibrant downtown for everyone.

The Granville Pedestrian Zone is staying through to the end of the summer!  Despite disappointing opposition from Councillors Pete Fry and Rebecca Bligh, your ABC Vancouver team voted to extend the overwhelmingly popular Granville Street Pedestrian Zone and temporary patios through Labour Day. It's been incredible to see Granville Street transformed into a safe and vibrant destination where people can walk, gather, enjoy local restaurants and patios, and support the businesses that make downtown Vancouver so special.  This extension gives businesses the opportunity to continue building on that momentum while giving Vancouver families and visitors even more time to enjoy an affordable day out and experience the city at its best. Your ABC Vancouver team is committed to making Vancouver safe and affordable by investing in the public spaces, local businesses, and core services that matter to you. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

Yesterday we celebrated Canada Day 🇨🇦 honoring a nation that gave Chinese Canadians an opportunity to build & give back. In our culture, burning a person’s likeness is reserved for the dead. It opens the wounds of the height of anti-Asian sentiment post-COVID I hoped never to feel again. Whatever you think of the Mayor’s politics, this is not protest. It is racialized intimidation. Anti-Asian hate doesn’t become acceptable because its target holds office or views you oppose. @KRobNews1 was there on the ground with us covering what was happening in #SFO #YVR when our communities got targeted. @VancouverPD @SFPD identified escalating risks warranting assessment and community-led mitigation which we took back. #vanpoli #sfopoli @PeterKimData @choeshow @DeputyChow @DanielLurie @AdamZivo

Today, after Canada's historic win and halfway through the World Cup, I'm proud to be joined by our Police Chief Steve Rai, Fire Chief Karen Fry, and City Manager Donny van Dyk for one simple reason: to say thank you for the way you've celebrated throughout the entire World Cup so far, and especially after Canada's historic win on Sunday.   Over the past several weeks, Vancouver has welcomed the world. Our streets have been full of families, fans, visitors, and local businesses enjoying an incredible World Cup.   What has stood out most isn't just the excitement—it's the way people have looked out for one another and celebrated safely.   We've seen minimal police incidents throughout the World Cup, and I want to sincerely thank everyone for making that possible.   To everyone who has come downtown, visited Fan Fest, and other public viewing areas—thank you for keeping things respectful.   To the Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, City staff, volunteers, event organizers, businesses, and everyone working behind the scenes – thank you for making this World Cup such a safe, exciting, and memorable event.   As we head into the second half of the World Cup, I'm excited for us all to keep this going.   Canada has made it to the round of 16, so let's keep cheering them on in the same safe way we've celebrated throughout this tournament.   We’re all here today to simply say thank you, Vancouver.    And if you see a city worker cleaning streets or a police officer and firefighter keeping things safe, reach out to them and say thank you.    Let’s keep this going, Go Canada Go.

It was great to catch up with Councillor Lisa Dominato to talk about one of the most important responsibilities of any city: making sure your roads and sidewalks are safe, reliable, and properly maintained. For too long, Vancouver fell behind on the basics. Years of underinvestment left roads and sidewalks cracked, damaged, and increasingly difficult to navigate for families, seniors, cyclists, and everyone who relies on them every day. That's why your ABC Vancouver team is taking a different approach. We're investing a record $104 million in roads and sidewalk upgrades across Vancouver—more than three times the investment made by previous administrations. It's part of our commitment to getting City Hall back to the basics and respecting your tax dollars by delivering the core services people depend on every day. Whether you're walking, driving, riding your bike, or pushing a stroller, these investments are making a real difference in communities across Vancouver. We're proud of the progress we've made, and we're going to keep working every day to build a city that's safe, affordable, and works for everyone. Let's keep Vancouver moving forward. #abcvancouver #affordability #publicsafety

Wow. What a moment for our team, our city, and our country. Congratulations to Team Canada on this incredible game and accomplishment. You wore your hearts on your sleeves, gave everything on the field, and gave all of us a memory we'll never forget. And thank you to everyone across Vancouver and across Canada who has come together throughout this tournament to cheer, celebrate, and believe. Let's celebrate this moment together in the same safe, passionate way we have throughout the entire World Cup. We cannot wait for the next game. It's been awesome getting out and talking to so many people from across our city while enjoying the incredible atmosphere on Granville Street and throughout Vancouver during the World Cup. One of the highlights has been meeting so many of the amazing people who make our city what it is—from our police officers, firefighters, and first responders to the dedicated City of Vancouver staff who work every day to keep our streets clean, safe, and welcoming. I couldn't be more proud of the people who serve our city, and of the Vancouverites who have come together to welcome the world with such pride, kindness, and respect. Together, we've shown what's possible when Vancouver is safe, affordable, vibrant, and open to the world. We're going to keep working every day to build on that progress and keep Vancouver moving forward. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

It was great to speak with Councillor Lisa Dominato about the importance of Vancouver's School Liaison Officer program. One of the things we've heard most consistently from parents and families across our city is just how valuable these officers are. Time and again, we've been told that School Liaison Officers have helped keep students safe, built trust with young people, and played an important role in creating healthier school communities. We're incredibly grateful for the work these officers do every day. They mentor students, help prevent bullying and violence, support schools in responding to safety concerns, and play an important role in early intervention and gang prevention. For many students, they're trusted mentors and positive role models. That's why one of ABC Vancouver's first actions in office was to fully restore the School Liaison Officer program after listening to families and educators across our city. Public safety starts early. We'll continue standing with students, teachers, parents, and the Vancouver Police Department to ensure this important program remains in our schools, helping keep Vancouver's families safe. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordability

How does the BC Housing Minister, who is a Vancouver MLA, and the federal Housing Minister, who is a Vancouver MP, sign a deal that won’t help Vancouverites? Why doesn’t a family in Vancouver get the same GST relief on housing as a family in Toronto? This is unacceptable. @gregorrobertson @christineeboyle cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

One of the things I'm most humbled by as Mayor, alongside an incredible ABC Vancouver team, is the opportunity to meet the people who make this city what it is. I've had so many great conversations with residents, business owners, workers, and visitors, and it's been wonderful to see people out enjoying Vancouver and sharing their thoughts on the progress we've made together. It was an honour to speak with a resident who has called Vancouver home for more than 40 years and to hear their perspective on how our city has changed over time. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this World Cup such a success and helped Vancouver welcome the world. We're committed to working every day to keep Vancouver safe, affordable, and vibrant so that the energy we're seeing today continues long after the tournament is over. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordablitily

I am so proud of Canada. Tough game today, but it was still an incredible effort and moment to experience this match together with all of you. As we move on to the next stage of the tournament, we're grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey together and cheer on Team Canada. Advancing is an incredible accomplishment, and we're excited for what's ahead. Whether you were watching at BC Place, at one of our amazing local businesses, at a watch party, or at home with family and friends, it was great to see so many people come together to support our team. I want to thank everyone for enjoying today's game, and the entire World Cup, in such a safe and respectful way. You are showing the world exactly what Vancouver and Canada are all about. We can't wait to watch the next game together and continue this journey with all of you. Let's go, Canada! 🇨🇦 #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordablitily
