Seeing some confusion about the @Polymarket weather market update: The resolution source has not changed it’s still Weather Underground What has changed is strikes are now set 1 day out instead of 2. They are also using a better data provider for tighter bracket accuracy Rewards will be increasing for these markets as well.

May Polymarket weather wrap-up: +$10,790 for the month. +$75,696 overall since I started. Another solid month with some adjustments along the way — had to start using an alt account since copy traders were making it tough to get into positions. Also expanded into weather trading on a couple other platforms, which has been going well so far. Always trying to improve and keep building ⛅️📈

Weather trading rewards those who find bad prices and manage risk well, not just those with good forecasts. Hope these quick tips help some people out.

Same with risk/reward management. Knowing when a payout justifies the risk — and when it doesn’t — is just as important as any forecast you’ll make.

Everyone talks about weather models and forecast skill in weather trading. Not many people talk about the trading side, which I’d argue is almost just as important as the forecast itself. This is something that has helped me succeed in this space.

⚠️ Warning for Polymarket weather traders: Weather Underground has been deleting recorded temps as well as dropping observations entirely — including at critical times near the daily high. This is happening for both US and international markets. Exercise caution when trading temp markets until this is hopefully resolved or Polymarket moves to a new resolution source.

Change to @Polymarket temperature markets starting May 27th. Previously markets could resolve mid-day once WU logged a temp crossing a bracket. Now they can't resolve until the NEXT day's first data point is published — meaning you're holding positions overnight. Read the new rules before you trade.

Earlier today in Maskache's Weather Olympus Discord, pro trader @Harnisc08225444 asked a very good question.

@Polymarket @kea1on Are there any specific reasons why almost all rewards for weather markets disappeared? We now have 45+ temperature markets live, but with almost no liquidity rewards, orderbooks has become extremely thin. Some markets have 20c+ (sometimes even 50c+) spreads, making them barely tradable. I know weather markets are a niche, but it would be great to see consistent rewards return to attract traders and improve liquidity. We are also paying good amount of fees, so a more stable reward structure would make a big difference. As the screenshot shows, today’s rewards are very thin, and some are even user-sponsored. @protrade47 already raised this in one of his posts, and right now this is the biggest pain point for weather traders.

Temp markets on Poly have been down for 2 days due to their incompetence in trying to save money on gas costs and breaking everything. Now we finally see some markets back up. Now you can bet on the "Highest temperature in Toronto" and the options are "Yes" and "No" ???

I will forever be grateful for the opportunities @Polymarket has given me with the weather markets. But how this current situation has been handled is pathetic and disappointing. The weather community has been voicing concerns about these issues for over a month with no fix. Now this mess. Mistakes happen, but the lack of real communication is causing hesitancy to continue on the platform. I personally have done over $1.5 million in volume, but I’m unsure if I will continue here.

Recently, there has been some drawbacks on Polymarket weather markets volume as a consequence of some series of changes. I'm writing this thread to address problems, so that we can have a better market in future and get the problems fixed.
