Are you using AAV to deliver genes to the nervous system? Good news / bad news. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… First the bad news: we found AAV can shrink dendrites and disrupt synaptic transmission. The good news? We figured out why it happens, and can tell you how to avoid it. (1/n)

@Cate_cholamine i had migraines with aura emerge during adolescence and the neurologist told me they would likely go away -- and come back, potentially with different combinations of symptoms -- over maturation and aging. all this proved true for me. just a reason not to be too scared by changes

Hello, I'd like to invite you to do my laundry for me. If you accept, I ask that you do my laundry in the next 7 business days. If you decline, please give a reason, and recommend 2-3 colleagues who can do my laundry instead. No, of course there's no payment, what a crazy idea

@txsalth2o Yep. We had booked something for our 14 yo's birthday and it got rained out twice. The third try was: open the door, throw in pizzas and soda, close the door and hide in the backyard. They had a great time and I only found one water balloon full of soda later.

Just had my son’s birthday party. He invited everyone in his class, his church class, teachers, piano teacher, even their siblings, everyone. I told him most probably wouldn’t come because it’s a summer party. He said he didn’t care, he just wanted to show that when you have a party you invite everyone, because he wasn’t invited to any birthday parties this year. A good number of kids showed and he had a great time. One parent said something interesting to us. They thanked us for having the party. They said no one is doing birthday parties anymore, that something happened and the kids just aren’t getting together the way they did before Covid. My son thought he wasn’t invited to any parties, but the truth was, no one else in his class had a birthday party. I blame Pinterest. I blame the idea that a birthday party has to be a production, with an over the top theme and lots of activities. In the early 90’s my dad wasn’t taking home a paycheck, I was the oldest of 5 kids and my parents still had a 12th birthday party for me, because it was pizza, a rented movie, messing around in the back yard and toilet papering someone’s house. We need to go back to birthday parties of the 80’s and 90’s. Minus the elaborate goodie bags, minus the themed decor and or video game trucks. Have more parties. Be more chill. Let kids be kids.

@doc_becca My autoreply right now should say "After avoiding it for four + years, I'm on my fourth straight day of 102 fevers from COVID. Replies may contain jibberish, arrive at odd hours, be sent to the wrong people, or not arrive at all."

@superkash @doc_becca Because my home will not be empty while I'm gone. But good point. This is why we did not publicize my mom's celebration of life, sadly. Then the home was empty.
