take this all with a grain of salt but i have been playing orcane for 5 days and from day 2 onward he has felt significantly easier to find success with than any other character i've played in this game and it feels really disproportionate for the amount of time i've invested

@islanders_takes I think Darche did what he did to show the guys in the room he has faith in them. He didn't want to move any prospects that would have gotten us a Kyrou/Thomas deal, so we ended up with Schenn. Not ideal, doesn't really fit the contention window, but he pushed for playoffs

Last night, I stated that I was optimistic. I am.
But I meant it mid-season when I said that trading away that second 1st round pick in this draft and missing the playoffs was a disaster scenario. It was then. It is now.
But.
I don't think that disaster, while the worst possible outcome for the season, equates to any serious setback or challenge for Darche in evolving the team moving forward. It essentially equates to one less premium draft pick. The highest pick we would have had is still in his pocket, the cupboard is untouched when it comes to prospects, and Schaefer is a phenom. Ritchie developed rapidly. Holmstrom developed. Heineman developed.
Darche still has a really, really good place to work from here. And, as I point out time and time again, many good teams spin picks away when they shouldn't and recover just fine to build champions. And teams that stash loads of picks and maximize futures can toil away for decades without any progress.
It really is on him right now to determine which direction we head in. Have faith or don't - that's everybody's individual right. My position here is wait and see. I haven't seen enough to condemn. But I haven't seen enough to have any faith, either.

I don't see anyone talking about it, but Air Armada is definitely gone next patch. This was the placeholder image for stage skins, but now it's just on the basic CSS. Also the blast zone visual potentially hints at some Aether Mode Stages, very exciting!

Listen, I'm very optimistic about where this season has gone but we can't just say last night was "a bad game" when the reality is that the team has not been consistently playing well since the break ended.
The last two wins were games where they put just enough hockey together to steal points. They were well-behind in most of those games in every way that mattered.
They've got to sort themselves out.

And stop hiding behind box technicality, you know that the top players all wanted to ban zump and not touch box. Box serves as melee's accesibility tool, Zump has ZERO reasoning to exist.
