@DashiJador hi Darcy, i'm having this bug when I press the gamepad stick (L3), the camera starts cycling to all my teammates, and i get stuck there and can't regain focus on myself. I dont have any keybind on "cycle allies" . Do you now what could be wrong?

@DashiJador hi! there is a bug when using a stick controller instead of WASD, I can't stop the recall neither with the cancel action button, nor with moving with the stick (but moving by pressing wasd does cancel the recall).

I'm also qualified having been ranked in Melee, Brawl, Sm4sh, PM, won a 64 Arcadian, beat the #1 NY PR player in Ultimate at the time, and I can say Rivals 2 is the best designed competitive game among this set. But I still just play melee :/

Saw a lot of Melee vs Ultimate beef (lol) on my feed recently. I think i'm one of the most "qualified" players to speak on the topic, having won large tournaments in Melee, Project M/+, and Ultimate. Gonna try to give genuine insight, so hear me out before getting defensive. Ultimate is a pretty fun game casually. But it's one of the least competitive games i've seen be played competitively. That's not to say you can't get good at the game — it's just that getting good at Ultimate often rewards some sort of degen jank or not interacting, whereas getting good at Melee often rewards difficult execution. From the perspective of someone who has been around the Smash scene for a long time and has been very good at many smash titles, it begins to look silly: In Smash Ultimate, the devs removed every advanced technique they could possibly THINK of (bar b-reversing and RAR?). It's a laundry list. There are even mechanics that were newly removed in Ultimate that had been in the series since Smash64 (shield dropping, pivoting, running through opponents). Not only does the game lack competitive mechanics, it actually has anti-competitive mechanics. The input lag is abysmal. There is noticeably more input lag than in Sm4sh, and the game has double the input lag of Melee AT BEST. Using a gamecube controller is the most common way of playing Ult, yet not even the least laggy! I can understand enjoying buffer systems in fighting games, but Ultimate's buffer system is so bad that it's comical. Most people practice Melee on rollback netcode, whereas Ultimate online — yeah... I realize that a lot of Ultimate players are actually new to Smash/FGC. If you became decent at a different game and came back, you would realize how silly Ult is competitively. EVEN MELEE IS A MICKEY MOUSE GAME HALF THE TIME. Brawl players: "It's the new game, i'm done with Melee." Sm4sh players: "This is the best game in the series by far." Ultimate players: "How were we EVER playing tr4sh?? Can't wait for the new Smash btw." Can you see how exhausting it might seem to hear Ultimate enthusiasts talk about it being the best competitive game?🐏🐑 People will make fun of Melee for lacking character diversity (which is less true now than ever), but it's way less common for people to have legit examples of bad gameplay in Melee. The next up and coming Ult player will be another 13-year-old "prodigy" who mains Minecraft Steve anyway. Melee is one of the most technical fighting games with a dedicated fanbase and a captivating history. Competitive platform fighting games at the scale in which know them today would not exist without SSBM. If Melee is fun to you, play it. If Ultimate is fun to you, play it. But let's not lie to ourselves lol.

@Cyrain lol I really think that in the top top level, the only thing that makes the falcon fox matchup somewhat close, is the fact that you can rtc fox. If you are not willing to do that, you can't say that you are losing to zump. You are losing to a better character and arguably player.

@NotAklo Is it even true that z jump is inherently better than perma claw? From everything that’s been said it seems like this is just a factor dependent on hand size. Seems like people with smaller hands don’t get hand pain from perma claw and get hand pain trying z jump

My final thoughts on zjump — I recently thought about this for a VERY long while before saying something that I wasn't confident in. In this post I've addressed every point that has been brought up regarding this debate, as well as some points that I haven't seen people mention. As someone who has been playing Melee since the beginning and who at heart actually DISLIKES button remapping in the game, banning Z-jump/GCC remapping simply cannot be justified. You cannot ban zjump without banning boxx. Rather, you SHOULD not. It is logically inconsistent. If you support doing so, then your argument is subjective and not objective. You are biased. I've heard many people argue that banning only GCC remapping is fine because the boxx is an accessibility controller, whereas zjump and remapping are purely for ease of use. It's true that some top players (i.e. Cody, Joshman, Lucky, Chem, etc) have benefited from switching to Z-jump. Yes, it's mostly Fox players, as Fox requires the most high speed execution in the game. But the amount of NON-TOP level players that have improved because of switching to boxx is disproportionate. Yes, the boxx is an accessibility controller. But to pretend that the boxx is not ALSO an ease of use tool is straight up delusional. To be clear btw, I think the boxx being legal is very good for the overall health of the scene. If you think "we can address the boxx if it becomes a problem," then that means you only care if someone actually good at the game is using these tools. Put your bias aside; it is blinding you. The argument that GCC remapping is inaccessible is also just bullshit. Here is why: It's true that you currently need a phob gcc/controller mods to do remapping (which is super dumb btw when stealth mods are possible). However, if you want to play Melee on GCC without remapping, the only feasible way you can properly perform techniques utilized by zumpers and boxx players is to use permanent right hand claw grip. For most human beings, this hand position is extremely uncomfortable. In fact, I would even argue that doing perma claw grip without hand discomfort is EVEN LESS realistic than having controller mods done. It's just such a bad faith argument too because most serious competitors have already been using Phob controllers for years. That being said, zjumping is obviously easier than claw grip. I'm sure there is a very small subset of people who disagree, as this is subjective. Let's be real though. Even aside from competitive gamers, the vast majority of human beings would not think that perma claw grip is easier than holding a controller the conventional way. It IS an ease of use tool, but again — so is the boxx. Last thing I'll say is that I truly find it comical seeing Captain Falcon, Sheik, Marth, and Puff players complain about tech skill being too easy for Fox. "Melee is supposed to be a very difficult game [for you, not me]."

I called this on the spot, Day 1 So yes: Ranked player #2* has been playing in a league under us all along. Same with the other zumpers across the field. This is what you’ve enabled cody. Full transparency: 100% vouch for Fiction. Hes been putting in the work in this investigation. Been talking with him and been fully cooperating with him. This has to be resolved by all of us working together. Theres some Viewpoint differences on how to approach this, and he is gathering more info + more data on ppl But its pretty much confirmed. Zumping is cheating. And this isnt even taking into consideration the mental buff to the zumper, and the mental nerf to someone NOT on zump. This is why we must do the best we can can to promote Competitive Integrity FIRST always.
