@LThaey @NASAEarth The loss from Greenland and Antarctica's ice sheets resulted in half an inch of global sea level rise between 2003-2019

@BreadMosley The opposite. Each kg of CO2 released contributes to about 15 kg of ice melt from Mountain glaciers. Every minute, we emit enough CO2 to add another five gallons of water to the oceans through glacial ice melt. Burning fossil fuels raises sea levels. advances.sciencemag.org/content/1/8/e1…

Unbelievable: The administration is attempting to remove environmental protections from 1/2 of the nation’s wetlands and 1/5 of streams and tributary headwaters by publishing its Navigable Waters Protection Rule in the Federal Register. act.ucsusa.org/2W0jIPa

Question: How do we know what greenhouse gas and temperature levels were in the distant past? Answer: Ice cores (cylindrical ice samples) are scientists’ best source for historical climate data. Other tools include tree rings, corals and sediment cores. climate.nasa.gov/faq/20/how-do-…

Awesome to see two UCS climate scientists included on this #EarthDay list. Dr. @climategeek and Dr. Rachel Licker are both impressive science communicators - and are in good company! Lets heed their advice and continue to hold government accountable and prepare for the future.

When ice melts in Greenland, it can have significant effects in places far away, like Louisiana, where people live and work right at sea level. For nearly 3 decades, @NASA has been monitoring how our warming climate is raising sea levels. #EarthDayAtHome go.nasa.gov/2RULfR1

For years, NASA has used satellites🛰️ to study melting ice🧊 on our home planet🌍, and tracking how much that contributes to sea level rise 🌊 What questions do you have for our scientists studying Earth's changing glaciers and ice sheets? #AskNASA
