This is true. People were very chill. You could get chicken nuggets shaped like dinosaurs. Folks would feed you peas on a little spoon while making airplane noises. You could even dump a whole bowl of spaghetti on your head if you wanted. Totally fine. Not sure what happened.

One of my favorite parts about the 90s is we just ate whatever food we wanted. Food was food. No one argued about what food was bad and what food was healthy. We just minded our business in general. At least that’s how I remember it

47 murders on the subway in the past 5.5 years is a huge increase. In 20 years from 2000 to 2019 there were 44 murders. And 8 in the 6 years from 2013 to 2018.
*We use murders not to ignore other crimes, but because murders are a reliable stat for comparative purposes over time.

We have had 47 murders on the NYC transit system since 2020, plus four self-defense killings, most of the murders random stranger on stranger killings with no provocation. We used to have 1-2 murders a year on transit. That number has consistently quadrupled in the past six years and it hasn't abated this year. Why is it so hard to get people to understand the data??? Don't just wander over here and spout off your theoretical urbanist nonsense. Actually research and understand the facts for once.

Have lost count of the number of rent controlled apartments I have gone into where 4 full grown adults (two aged parents and two ~30 yrs old kids) were living in 1-2 bedrooms, with everyone at home in the middle of the day
Hard to escape the conclusion that those apartments warped those kids' life paths

So many in Illinois who constantly bitch about taxes/Pritzker/Democrats/Chicago are upset they won’t give taxpayer money to billionaire NFL owners.
So many in Indiana who badmouth Illinois for the same reasons seem pretty jazzed about paying taxes for a new stadium.
