The house I grew up in was literally a shack that the farmer next door was using to store extra tools in. My bedroom was the closed-in front porch. I don't know what my dad paid for it, but I do know his interest rate was somewhere around 30%. It was all he could afford on his factory job wage.
I genuinely don't know where people get the idea that Boomers all had it easy.

@DP_LTS @RealPostFolder My dad only got a week off from the factory in E Rutherford. Vacay was either going to Coney or Jones beach for one day during that week. Maybe a bonus drive to Long Island. Most people I know lived in small 2BR/1BA homes with no AC.
