We grow tired of Mike Lee pontificating about filibusters and recess yet he fails to use a powerful rule in the Senate. While Senate rules presume a quorum is present, any senator on the floor can "suggest the absence of a quorum." If a senator from the President's party were to do this during a pro forma session, it would immediately halt all proceedings. Senator Lee can force everyone back to DC to do the people business at one of those pro forma sessions. Until we have a Republican Senator willing to do this, every Republican Senator complaining about the Senate rules is a phony. That especially includes Mile Lee!

NATO is a defensive alliance. President Trump wanted NATO assets probably for two reasons: 1) Didn’t want the US Navy to take the brunt 2) Optics. NATO support could show Iran was a real threat and get more buy in from public. It wasn’t a test. It was a desperation move following the initial miscalculation.

Trump confirms what I have been suggesting, that the request for help in the Strait of Hormuz was a “test for NATO”. Then he says “remember this in a number of months from now”. Trump is all but confirming he is going to back out of NATO. Decision has been made.

I appreciate Rubio’s honesty: Israel forced our hand. Maybe we could stop Israel & limit Iran’s retaliation. Maybe not. I’ll leave that for later, but it should be seriously debated. We’re in it now. So, how do we get out in a way that puts America, & only America, first?

I would say DHS Secretary. Attorney General under President Trump is suicide considering it’s a position that is supposed to be A-Political..of course it’s been hyper politicized since Clinton. DHS Secretary gives him more flexibility to do more. Essentially, keep homeland safe, secure the border and remove illegals. Improve TSA screening and he’s a hero.

Hopefully gets tapped as DHS Secretary setting him up for a 2028 run. I could see a DeSantis-Rubio Ticket more so than a Vance-Rubio. Don’t think Vance has what it takes. In fact, he’s been pretty much overshadowed by Rubio. Even domestically, Miller seems to have more pull. Vance hasn’t established himself as lead on any particular issue. I would be wrong..
