last week, i went to a startup event where there were only five females total including me. obviously, tech and entrepreneurship is a male dominated field. but cracked women doing exceptional things exist - they're just hidden gems. the tech space and especially sf have commoditized women in the sector to be mere "decor" rather than recognize them for our merits, but lately, this perception has magnetized tenfold with provocative movements such as "abg cmo" or "events where there are more women than men" at the end of the day, you would assume that these sorts of media are meant to empower women to put themselves out there...but it ultimately degrades the rep of a space that is already so misrepresented. we should not have to have people question their self-worth or skills because of external stigma. it is totally okay being the 1/5 female in the room. the more you see representation that reflects your own identity, you should push through and overcome those fears too. ambition is contagious when in the right rooms.
