@envinyon The problem is not enough people are actually going to engage with it and they're going to do the same thing they've done with Blue mage. Sparse updates until they make the next meaningless limited job. Not to mention I hate that entire concept of limited jobs.

some folks are bummed that beastmaster is only level 50, and I get it however I think there's a lot of potential value in the devs designing a job that has to be fun to play specifically in ARR content

@envinyon Less randomized and more options. Gear is definitely too linear. A little more customization on how we build out our characters would be nice.

I honestly have a hard time sympathizing with people that want gearing to be better in FFXIV cuz I think it usually involves wanting some diablo style loot with lots of randomized effects and that would turn me off on doing high end content so fast

lots of strange reactions to this game. let’s clear some things up: childless men do not have paternal instincts the way that childless women have maternal instincts (we observe this even in the way little girls play vs. little boys). men first experience paternal instincts once they have their own children - and typically, those paternal instincts are only ever felt for their own children, and no one else’s. men are not nurturers. men don’t gush over cute kids in public. men don’t have baby fever. if a man wants to possess a child for any reason other than it being a product of his own lineage, he is likely a predator. and you’d be taking the feminist/radical gender abolitionist position to protest any of the above points. this should explain why a “dad simulator” game marketed to mostly childless men gives people the creeps.

I think it's funny how the big complaints for Final Fantasy II and VIII in the early 2010s were players deciding to grind in really obnoxious and menial ways and then blaming the games for bad design when they put themselves into a really stupid scenario themselves.

@imgekkii @XenosysVex If you balance the abilities right that won't be a problem The problem is it requires real actual effort. their entire job design these days is to simplify everything as much as possible to make it as easy to balance as they can That's why they homogenized the burst window.

@Dragosbeard @XenosysVex I imagine because it would be incredibly hard to balance fights around them specifically given the scope of blue mage at this point. Like, the optimal strat for something like an ultimate fight would just be nothing but blue mages with some of the highest potency abilities

@imgekkii @XenosysVex I would rather they take those limited jobs and make them full feature jobs that can be fun and used in all content. With all of the restrictions that come to playing them like having to go and tame beasts or collect and learn monster abilities.

@imgekkii @XenosysVex Blue mage could literally be the most unique job in the game with flexibility to fit in any role given the loadout that you've selected. But they'll never do anything that requires that much effort and risk.

@Dragosbeard @XenosysVex Tbh I agree with this, i mostly think of them as a novelty I guess. Like its cool to use some of the primals abilities for fun in older content, but blue mage doesnt really DO anything.
