Today, a dream comes true ! The Elephant whisperers of India get a village dedicated to them at Theppakadu Elephant Camp in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. India's first Mahout Village has 44 houses dedicated to every Mahout and Kavadi taking care of our precious elephants. Constructed at a cost of Rs 5.6 Crores by the TN Forest Department the village has lanes named after our elephants. From the design of the house to a basketball court to kids playground the village has been built in consultation with Mahouts. It is beautifully lit by solar lights and carefully protected with a solar fence. Inaugurated by CM Thiru @Mkstalin the village is an ode to our dedicated Mahouts and cavadies for their selfless service. #TNForest #Mudumalai Video @supriyasahuias

This year’s Ball is a celebration of indigenous communities, hosted by @ElephantFamily and @BritishAsianTst . Their Majesties presented the Mark Shand Award and the Tara Award, named after Mark Shand’s elephant, to recognise contributions to protecting Asian wildlife.

Do you know #elephant family is all women group. Made of #mother, #aunts, #grandmother & all other #ladies. Most of the times Male leave herd early. Kids are looked by all female elephants in herd not only mother. Most experienced female makes all decision for family. #WomensDay

The brave mother elephant fought till her last breath .Four experienced veterinarians and experts tried their best to revive her but the battle to save her life was lost today. We are heartbroken but something miraculous and magical happened with her 60 days old baby elephant.

In a swift action, the Tamil Nadu Forest and Crime Control Bureau has nabbed three people involved in the trading of Pangolin Scales. Around 1.16 Kilograms of Pangolin Scales have been recovered from them. The misconception about medicinal benefits of the Pangolin Scales has made Pangolins the most trafficked species across the globe. Pangolin is a highly endangered mammal and is protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
