We cook spaghetti in Nigeria in a different way and it doesn’t make it anyless Italian. Nobody says Yoruba spaghetti because we add iru to it.
Egusi is Yoruba. Stop renaming our culture or attributing them to another culture. Even wrote Youruba. Stupid.

Igbo Man: "Lagos Was Sold to Us, We Developed It – Without Igbos, Lagos Is Nothing, Nothing Yoruba Can Do"
A video has surfaced showing an Igbo man making a bold and provocative claim that the Yoruba did not develop Lagos and that the city was sold to Igbos, who then developed it. "Without Igbos in Lagos, Lagos is nothing," he declared, adding that there is nothing the Yoruba can do about it.

The bastards are trying to do damage control and using gaslighting soundtracks.
First off, in his tale, he shielded ibos from the responsibility of the 1966 January coup which was an ibo coup!
Secondly, if you are paying attention, the relationship is clearly parasitic because it's always about Yoruba doing things to the benefit of ibos.
Third, the so-called "relationship" somehow went on strike when it was time to form the first central government post independence. Awolowo was meant to have a meeting with Azikwe and agree to a coalition. Awolowo was at the meeting place waiting for Azikwe for hours when he found out via radio that Azikwe had gone to the North to form a coalition with Ahmadu Bello!
The same ibos carried out a terrorist attack at Casino Yaba during the Biafra War, and match to Ọrẹ to try to conquer Yorubaland! Of course they failed miserably.
Some of the biggest supporters of IBB who also supported the annulment of June 12 election were ibos! When we were about to return to democracy in 1999, some of the fiercest advocates against power going to Yoruba were ibos like Aurthur Nzeribe!
When a so-called relationship fails when it matters most, let nobody use it to gaslight you.
The reality is that ibos are our enemy! Throughout our interactions with them, the relationship has always been parasitic and one-sided!

Pete Edochie delivers a powerful message on the historical relationship between the Igbo and Yoruba people, tracing their connection from Nigeria’s early years through the civil war era and beyond. He explains why he shares a different view from the generic views about Igbo and Yoruba relationships often portrayed in public discourse. Do you agree with his views? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

The Oniru family of Iru Kingdom, were already here on this land long before Queen Victoria of England renamed it Victoria Island.
This was our ancestral territory under customary ownership for generations, Our people settled along the Marina, lived in fishing villages, maintained shrines, and exercised traditional rights as indigenous landowners, we were the landlords from the very beginning.
Historically, the Oniru family owned vast stretches of land that covered:
• The whole of the Marina
• Gbosere
• Onikan
• Parts of Southwest Ikoyi
• The entire Victoria Island
• Extending beyond to Okun Alajapa and other lagoon-side areas.
We also had influence and villages in places like Oko Eletu, Igbokusu Olomi (now Oyinkan Abayomi Drive), Ilado Creek, Isago Creek, Magoko Creek, and many others, these were swampy, water areas.
In 1948, the Lagos Executive Development Board (colonial authorities) formally acquired large portions, especially part of Victoria Island, from us. They paid £250,000 as compensation directly to the Oniru family for the land, plus an additional £150,000 for displaced inhabitants, tenants, and destroyed shrines. Some Residents were resettled at Maroko village. (equivalent to roughly £18.9 million GBP in today’s (2026) money based on UK inflation).
These acquisitions, along with earlier and later ones, helped transform the area through sand-filling, reclamation, and development into the prime real estate we see today. But the facts remain: Lagos authorities (colonial and post-independence) bought acquired these lands from us, the Oniru family.
We hold customary rights over Marina, Onikan, parts of Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and beyond.
Iru-Victoria Island and environs remains tied to our heritage.
We honor the progress and celebrate what these areas, from Onikan to Victoria Island have become the jewel of Lagos and Nigeria.
