My dear front-end developers (and anyone who’s interested in the future of interfaces): I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept): Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow

@NPCollapse @ControlAI I'm a very firm believer in giving people the trust and agency/ownership to do great work, but not everyone is fit for that position. You do need creative people who can defend (and run with) ideas, to do the things you were trying to do at Conjecture. That balance is *hard*.

@kepano What do you mean? Are you speaking of AI generated apps, software lacking QA/not used by the developer, or something else?

You can still instantly tell when an app lacks the human touch. I can't commit my time to something if I see that the creator is not willing to commit theirs.

I don't like being vindictive, but from an incentives point of view I want people who make disastrous decision and brag about them to never be able to work in politics again. How many people have died because of this decision? That is what I want us to think about.

@AISafetyMemes Fascinating that not for a second did it occur to both Marc and the interviewer that "I like building Walmart" pretty much defines introspection. Know what to do *requires* introspection. Our world view shapes how we act. We are truly in the "you can just say things" era.
