@XSkiNniSkiNniX i mean any time i talk about my trauma i do it in a kind of light jokey way because id rather not relive the emptions i went through if i take it too seriously so i totally understand someone doing the same about an ED and trying to be somewhat serious without self triggering

i just saw a video of "unromanticizing anorexia" and I was really sceptical at first cause these are always so hateful and like "YOU STINK YOU HAVE BAD FARTS YOU SMELL BAD YOUR BREATH STINKS YOU'RE HORRIBLE" but this video the girl was genuinely so respectful and actual sharing

@viscerer no literally because those disordered thoughts can become an ED at any point. i had disordered thoughts for like a decade and then it randomly flipped from just thoughts to heavily restricting or starving most of the week and now its not as bad but still concerning behaviour

Anyone else notice when they restrict or fast the food you then eat tastes different?? Like either the flavor is more prominent (carrots) or it tastes like nothing all of a sudden (chips)

@bbyrexi im a mix of religions, so occasionally I'll cook a meal as an offering to a deity, or events like christmas that my family celebrate, birthdays, i dont have any specific fasting events but that might change soon with a new religious path im entering

@FallToMyDeath This is totally valid! I do something similar, I don’t eat anything specific for my religion on a regular basis but there are specific days where we celebrate through the year, with food being a large part of those days so I don’t count at all with what I eat on those events

you can still lose your period at a higher weight, you can still be incredibly malnourished at a higher weight and you can still have a heart attack for starving yrself at a higher weight. the moment you give anorexia a look you're dooming those who fly under the radar

whats an opinion you have about eating disorders that will have you like this?

@alya_stfu @rorapilled okay but if they heavily restrict/starve they still need specific diet programs to restore nutrients that they havent been getting someone with a low bmi and ana could be healthier than someone with a high bmi and atypical ana. because weight isnt the dangerous part

@rorapilled i think they do this bc they tackle your recovery differently if you dont need to be weight restored (different meal plans and facilities and specialised personnel ig?) but it's gross either way, so invalidating and triggering, i cant imagine it does less harm than good :/

@LeaKayan i hate the feeling of hunger cramps, but if i wait long enough i stop feeling it, and i love the way i can just feel the slight ache and knowing i have that amount of control and self restraint, getting dizzy after standing up is pretty fun half the time but i hate it sometimes

@slowcoagulation @snowkkiyo oh yea, like i have a lot of traits, id say i like up most with anorexia and maybe orthorexia but the main one is i dont count calories, so having categories for obsessing over quantity vs quality vs portions etc. would be so useful to navigate helping people

@snowkkiyo studies between the two have shown the differences between people diagnosed with either are pretty negligible. it makes more sense imo to have a spectrum model or singular diagnosis with sub types for anorexia with specified presentation (compulsions, fear, valuation of body)

i think about this a lot, particularly from a psychological standpoint. receiving the "atypical" diagnosis is far more likely to send someone into a spiral wherein they attempt to achieve the "real" diagnosis, than it is to provide any genuine help or benefit

"Grieve in private" has got to be the dumbest shit I've ever read. Encouraging people to isolate themselves and suppress their feelings is cruel, it's how people wind up dead.

@bandorexic theoretically yes but it would take a lot of time and intentional behaviours that you're extremely unlikely to keep up with
