@bbyrexi im a mix of religions, so occasionally I'll cook a meal as an offering to a deity, or events like christmas that my family celebrate, birthdays, i dont have any specific fasting events but that might change soon with a new religious path im entering
English

@FallToMyDeath This is totally valid! I do something similar, I don’t eat anything specific for my religion on a regular basis but there are specific days where we celebrate through the year, with food being a large part of those days so I don’t count at all with what I eat on those events
English

@babyteethrot malnourished as a kid to binging/emotional eating as a teen, to heavy restriction, vegetarian based as an adult

gen, a lot of edtwt posts says losing the weight won’t make u happy but whenever i lose weight i am in fact ecstatic i was soooo happy at my lw especially
lulu ♡@miausanity
everyone says you’ll be miserable when u get skinny, but when i was skinny i was the happiest i’ve ever been

you can still lose your period at a higher weight, you can still be incredibly malnourished at a higher weight and you can still have a heart attack for starving yrself at a higher weight. the moment you give anorexia a look you're dooming those who fly under the radar

whats an opinion you have about eating disorders that will have you like this?
English

"wannarexics" are disordered too because wanting or trying to be anorexic isn't normal behavior

@alya_stfu @rorapilled okay but if they heavily restrict/starve they still need specific diet programs to restore nutrients that they havent been getting
someone with a low bmi and ana could be healthier than someone with a high bmi and atypical ana.
because weight isnt the dangerous part
English

@rorapilled i think they do this bc they tackle your recovery differently if you dont need to be weight restored (different meal plans and facilities and specialised personnel ig?) but it's gross either way, so invalidating and triggering, i cant imagine it does less harm than good :/

@LeaKayan i hate the feeling of hunger cramps, but if i wait long enough i stop feeling it, and i love the way i can just feel the slight ache and knowing i have that amount of control and self restraint, getting dizzy after standing up is pretty fun half the time
but i hate it sometimes
English

Question for #edtwtㅤ do you guys find pleasure in starving yourselves? genuine question since it was brought up in class
English

@slowcoagulation @snowkkiyo oh yea, like i have a lot of traits, id say i like up most with anorexia and maybe orthorexia
but the main one is i dont count calories, so having categories for obsessing over quantity vs quality vs portions etc. would be so useful to navigate helping people
English

@snowkkiyo studies between the two have shown the differences between people diagnosed with either are pretty negligible. it makes more sense imo to have a spectrum model or singular diagnosis with sub types for anorexia with specified presentation (compulsions, fear, valuation of body)
English

i think about this a lot, particularly from a psychological standpoint. receiving the "atypical" diagnosis is far more likely to send someone into a spiral wherein they attempt to achieve the "real" diagnosis, than it is to provide any genuine help or benefit

@yourlittlesisx3 @iloveblu3 no fr. im not usually an asshole but when my stepmother who was like 30kg lighter than me kept saying "omg im such a beached whale"
yea.. you are. its disgusting.
English

@iloveblu3 Honestly bro if I had a friend like that I'd feed into it I would tell them how fat and disgust they are just because they're doing that
English

Genuinely I get even skinny people can have body dysmorphia but if you say this type of stuff in front of you friend who is obviously bigger then you I wish nothing on you but the absolute worst.

"Grieve in private" has got to be the dumbest shit I've ever read. Encouraging people to isolate themselves and suppress their feelings is cruel, it's how people wind up dead.
lory@peacheglitch
@emilighterr “how do i make this about myself” grieve in private please.
English

@bandorexic theoretically yes but it would take a lot of time and intentional behaviours that you're extremely unlikely to keep up with
English

If i hit myself when eating will I be afraid of food #foodforthought
English

@ymkentos @skinnipupp no literally i lost weight so fast when i was constantly going out and had to buy things from the shops or eat fast food instead of being at home all the time and having continuous access to snacks
English

@skinnipupp “stop eating fast food” i actually gained more weight than ever only eating at home bc i had constant access to the food 😭 people who have never struggled with their weight think they know everything
English

@SAYON4RAprince oh i know but so many people just DONT ask. ever.
ive been chronically suicidal and stuff for like 8 years at least, no one in my life knows how to treat me, and ive convinced half of them I'm fine, because they cant even learn how to not trigger me if im upset
English

@FallToMyDeath they can only suggest you to seek professional help atp, my vents and struggles often go ignored or simply forgotten (?) so not everyone can help
English

@SAYON4RAprince @seravhm i feel like people should just ask 😭
"do you need help" "how can i help" etc.
English

@seravhm genuinely is because they dont know how to approach you, i understand how you feel but i also get how the other feels, but it sucks nevertheless because it feels like then nobody will ever understand us, unless you specifically tell them what you want but idk
English

@slutty_slitter never thought of this omg, definitely doing this if they ever admit me
English

@limbicangel I've been on the edges of ED communities and behaviours so long i wouldnt be able to tell you where it started vs where i was just aware and maybe had a few mild quirks
English

@ikimewo me using the fact that I can't afford groceries to fuel my ED
