‘Mistaken releases’ have been happening for years! Weird how it’s only really making the news when they want to cause more division! HMPPS is understaffed and underpaid. Also who is putting their names on the release lists? @DavidLammy

@jimbrownblog OMIC took experienced officers out of the community and just added to the decline of probation overall. Yet again someone’s grand idea who has no idea 🤦🏻‍♀️

@jimbrownblog This is how my therapist described my relationship with probation before I left. It’s taken me a long time to realise they were the problem not me.

This a million times this! I’ve seen it first hand and still hear of it now I’ve left!

When I worked in probation I was known as the one who would say something. They loved that for a while until they realised I wasn’t to be contained by their toxic, bullying tactics. If you think for yourself and stand up to the SLT your days are numbered

@JoePS123 Speaking as somebody who works in the justice system, no she has not. Every measurable aspect of the criminal courts has got worse on her watch. She had a dreadful inheritance, sure. But the idea that she has been effective is a myth among political journalists.

What are #HMPPS doing to support probation? I’ll tell you! Nothing!! Probation needs to be separate from prisons.

@mqdtv @John_Podmore More work because they have no understanding of the actual job or the pressures involved.

@John_Podmore We were discussing in the office 2day how on earth we are expected to monitor any infringement of the proposed measures amongst the 101 other tasks we have to carry out. HMIP today have said that in one Probation Delivery Unit we are <26% of required staffing. Why give more work

Sure,if you are caught fly-tipping scrap the van, take away driving licence. ( and the season ticket ) But just because prison isn’t working, constantly kicking the can down the road to probation suggests that the SPADS haven’t read the recall statistics and reasons for.

@mqdtv I left the service due to lack of support, gaslighting, bullying, toxicity and SLT being vindictive. They try and run it like a business and that is one of many faults. Even when I was training the study days were eaten up by recalls, breaches etc.

@FedUpProbOff “Business need” that old chestnut, I oppose the term on principle as we aren’t a business! I hope Napo can support members in the same position. I hope the Chief Probation Officer will announce professional development days and that you can use those

It all seems to have gone very quiet now the ballot is over and done with. Yet again staff too exhausted to fight against the service. They are so broken and done, but just want some form of stability so they don’t add more stress

@mqdtv They get given ‘promises’ and made to feel like they are only ever good enough for their current job. They don’t want to rock the boat. The gaslighting is horrendous. I hope for a good turn out but I never got to go due to business need

@FedUpProbOff Totally agree. Members are battered and bruised but don’t realise stability won’t happen unless we demand it. I hope for a good turnout at Napo national AGM as a show of strength.

I feel vindicated

Probation staff protects the community. From sex offenders. From violent people. From chaos. But staff doing that work are burnt out, underpaid & walking away. 📢 The public should be furious that government refuses to put things right #NapoBallot #PublicSafety #FundProbationNow
