If you’re simply looking for a definition…. I feel like you could even figure out how to use Google. If it’s a serious question then let’s break it down. When I talk about big ideas in history or government, it’s important for me and others to understand what the words really mean. I’ll describe a fascist government. Stop me when it doesn’t sound familiar. So, a fascist system is often described as one where one leader has a lot of control (ignoring congress and the senate), people aren’t allowed to disagree openly (Any media or personalities not right leaning) and the government may try to control what people hear or say (Carr from FCC). But wait… There’s more! It can also include strong ideas about putting the country above everything else (America First White Nationalist Involvement) and using force to stay in power both domestic and foreign.

Is Rick Scott really from Florida? Why is he trashing his own state when he’s a US Senator that is causing a lot of this. Rick Scott and his ally Byron Donalds: two phonies who only take from Florida while giving nothing back.

Sure. People point to things like his “I alone can fix it” messaging on issues like wars and prices, firing or clashing with officials who have disagreed with him (and posting racist and bigoted social post about them), and using the DOJ/FBI to go after them. Add in constant fake news attacks on the media, his horrible America First nationalism and immigration policies, and his hateful rhetoric like lock her up toward opponents. And he continues to go on with his baseless and debunked refusal to accept the 2020 election results and the lead-up to Jan 6, and strong rhetoric around using force at home and abroad. 13 U.S. service members have died so far in a war most Americans don’t want. Let’s not forget that there was a US strike on a school in Minab, Hormozgan province in Iran that killed 156 people, including 120 children.

So, when big words, like fascism get used a lot, especially when people are talking about government. It’s important to use those words carefully and accurately. Fascism usually describes a system where one leader has most of the power, people aren’t allowed to disagree, and the government may try to control what people say, think, or do. Sound Familiar? Hint: It’s not North Korea So when we use big words, it’s our responsibility to learn what they really mean and use them the right way.
