I have 10 emails from one parent about an assignment from January 26 that her student turned in April 13.
Admin and students aren’t the only reasons teachers quit.
@teachcrap Sorry guys, all the movie streaming sites are blocked by the district. Please watch this clip of a bowling ball and feather falling next to each other in a vacuum.
Are teachers really out here playing movies every Friday??
I don’t have enough time to get through my content. I certainly don’t have time for movies.
I’m not saying don’t take a break. We have brain breaks daily. For a few minutes. Not an entire instructional period. Wtf?
@jentut123@ModestTeacher Earlier this year I realized that whether I worry or not everything somehow gets done. I enjoyed my break and even forgot what I did as a job until the day before I was supposed to go back.
@ModestTeacher I wished I would have done work. I see tons of comments for no guilt… I want to be there but I don’t know how. How do you turn off work and enjoy a guilt free break? I really want to join the club of no guilt!!!
@FrequentSuccess@RAD_is_awesome For me the new reality is that the pandemic created new skill sets while ir left many students with learned apathy and poor foundational skills. This year it is not the same as usual because students are not the same. Teachers are needing to teach habits of success, resiliency.
The unbridled avarice that Ralphie and Randy experience while opening their presents must be how teachers feel during a curriculum PD when they get to unpack the standard.
@jill_zieglar@RAD_is_awesome What do you mean by the new reality? I mean, I know about the pandemic and the learning losses but am wondering if there is a new definition I’ve missed?
@RAD_is_awesome Sigh. I’m now a principal and have to run a PD on Jan 11th. Refuse to waste teacher’s time. Feel a true obligation to thank teachers and honor all they have done over the past very hard years! PD will be about recognizing the new reality, accepting it and moving kids forward.
I've let Helicopter Parent know that you'll have plenty of time over the break to contact them with your plan to fix their kid's grade. Please CC me with your action plan to keep them happy. Oh, and enjoy the time off!
@Pamela27186729 I need to go to Walmart! I typically shop at Shop Rite. I had to get the XL ones that were like $4.99 because I didn’t want to pay the extra $2 to get the regular ones 😂
@DrBradJohnson Yes! Very sad..and I just resigned this last semester after 23 1/2 years! My whole life & world FEELS different - kind of freedom that only an educator knows what that is like after…TEACHING!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
According to the National Education Association (NEA) there was a shortage of more than 300,000 teachers nationwide for the start of the 2022-23 school year. Yes, 300,000!
@EDUwithEmily I overestimated that high schoolers would be better than middle school this year. They’re 4 years behind because of Covid is what our principal said. So my 10th graders are still 6th graders… just taller
I took a school computer away from a student who was using it to search inappropriate things. The school gave it back to the student. The next day they ask the student for the computer for evidence of the searches and are SHOCKED that the history is erased from the last 2 weeks.
