Dear internet. My darling four-year-old is fighting for her life after a massive stroke 8 days ago. She has Down’s Syndrome but has until now been living a normal, happy, joyful life with her mummy, dada and brother. I need hope. I need examples of recovery from similar cases 🧵

There is something catastrophically wrong with Americas vet business. I sat for 3 hours yesterday with our 11 year old dog. Test after test. I kept signing financial agreement papers, desperate to find an answer to what’s wrong. Every step of the way, a thorough explanation of the need to do xyz. Always with the sentence at the end “that runs $____” Sign this. By the end of the 3 hours, my choices were pay $5000 to admit her for the rest of the afternoon or put her down. I couldn’t think straight. I walked in with her hours prior thinking she just had some little bug that would be simple to resolve. I can’t stop thinking about how many people would have to choose option 2, because $5000 out of left field isn’t possible to pay. I also can’t believe that I was forced to sit and watch a 14 min vaccine commercial reel on repeat for 3 hours while I contemplated our devastating circumstances. This can’t be the norm. If you have a prayer, I humbly ask if you’d lift our family up this Easter Sunday.

Visiting Trinity Episcopal Church in Vermont today, it’s built in the gothic style and framed with 4x4 timbers, and the interior is gorgeous as well!

Every Easter, as far back as I can remember, my father would insist I listened to St Matthew Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach. Reluctantly, I would! It would be plaid on loop throughout the entire bank holiday. My father believes that calling yourself an atheist is too mild, as even identifying as an atheist is, in a way, an acknowledgment that there could be a supernatural alternative, something like God. He refuses to engage in any notion that God is even a possibility. Despite believing in absolutely no form of a higher power, he would still insist I sit and listen to St Matthew Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach. Not out of faith, but out of principle. For him, it's about culture, history, and passing down the lineage that shapes us as Englishmen. A mark of respect and humility to the contribution of Christianity, regardless of his personal rejection of religion. I however, am a Christian, one of the few things myself and my father greatly disagree on. I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown up with that tradition. Now, at 20, I continue the tradition and will pass it on to my children. Happy Easter - let's make Britain Christian again!

🚨 let me tell you what actually happened here.. health officials just warned that dinosaur chicken nuggets at Walmart may contain high levels of lead.. the food that defined an entire generation of childhoods.. and before this gets dismissed as a one-off recall.. the US banned lead paint in 1978.. banned lead in gasoline by 1996.. we have known for 50 years exactly what lead does to a developing child's brain.. it permanently lowers IQ, causes behavioral disorders that never fully reverse, and damages cognition in ways no amount of treatment can undo.. in 2014, Flint Michigan's water was contaminated with lead for over a year.. thousands of children were poisoned.. it became a national emergency with investigations, criminal charges, and congressional hearings.. and then nothing systemically changed.. in 2021, a Congressional subcommittee found high levels of lead, arsenic, and mercury in baby food sold by major brands including Gerber and Beech-Nut.. it was in the news for a week.. and then nothing happened.. and in 2026, it's in the dinosaur chicken nuggets.. they banned lead from your paint.. banned it from your gas.. found it in your baby food five years ago and did nothing.. and now it's in your kid's dinner.. at some point you have to stop calling it an oversight.
