Ulysses has raised $46M led by a16z American Dynamism. We are building The Ocean Company. The ocean is 71% of the planet. But it is less explored than Mars, and full of secrets, waiting to be told. It is the backbone of global defense. Home to the critical infrastructure that powers our world. And the key to the health of our planet. This frontier needs technology to protect and steward it. We are building it. And we need more builders Join us and explore the Great Blue Frontier: theoceancompany.com/careers

@Willob when do you think humanity will have AUV's capable of operating far beyond 1500 meters? So cool to see you revive ocean exploration with @UlyssesInc

Can the DOJ extradite (Maduro-style) everyone on earth who has ever operated a scam call center and charge them with wire fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1343) to stand trial by jury of their peers in the Southern District of New York?

One of the most important and under appreciated trends in the world right now. 1. 100s of billions of dollars will soon be available to solve big problems (making the world resilient to ASI, ending factory farming, etc). 2. The projects and organizations which will turn billions of 2027/28 dollars into impact need to be started NOW. 3. We need really talented people to start and run and work for these new projects. What @nanransohoff calls general managers, who feel personally resposible for solving one of the world’s important problems. What is especially scarce are detailed visions about what making AI go well looks like. These will help inform what problems these new projects ought to work on.

New blog post: The third wave of American philanthropy Hundreds of billions of dollars in new philanthropic capital will soon become liquid. The OpenAI Foundation holds 26% of OpenAI, worth about $220B at today’s valuation. Anthropic’s seven co-founders have pledged to give away 80% of their wealth and have instituted the most aggressive donor matching program for employees in tech history. How much does this all add up to? And how meaningful is that in the context of philanthropy today? I was doing some simple napkin math to wrap my head around the scale of what’s coming, and radicalized myself in the process. I had dramatically underappreciated the scale of the philanthropic capital that’s about to become available and the corresponding gap in talent and organizations that will be needed to make the most of it. This piece aims to directionally sketch the scale of what’s coming, the gap in operational capacity needed to absorb it, and what we can do to fill it. (Link to full post in reply)

My easiest daily food is 🥩 steak with 🥬 brussel sprouts and 🍚 rice It takes 30 seconds to prepare so anyone can do it and very healthy Frozen brussel sprouts I put in a oven tray, add a lot of salt and pepper and some oil, these need a looong time, you want them to be a bit brown outside and dry and crunchy inside, at least 30 mins in 200C/390F hot air fan oven, frozen vegetables seem to have extra nutritional benefits over fresh ironically Frozen (!) steak in airfryer with beef tallow and salt and pepper, I do about 9 mins then flip it and another 9, but it depends how thick your steak is, if unsure take it out and cut, it should be pink inside, brown outside (non-frozen steak will NOT work in airfryer), pink inside steak means you get a lot more of the nutrients than well done (overcooked) steak Rice is debatable, I eat it cause my gf is Brazilian, otherwise maybe not, I am unsure about its nutritional benefits, but it's some carbs, so good for exercise I think The rice cooker is the only ceramic one I could find one Amazon Enjoy 😊

The AI race is the defining race of our time. A little over three years ago, we made a bet that winning this race would require us to bridge the digital divide and deliver modular infrastructure and the latest models, full stack, anywhere in the world. Today, we are announcing the next step in that journey with our $230M Series B funding round and Galleon Forge One. This new facility will enable us to continuously manufacture and deploy our Galleon modular data centers with speed, scale, and sovereignty. Thank you to the Armada – our team, investors, customers, and partners – for helping us build the industrial base to win as we scale in our mission to bridge the digital divide.

The only way to be great at free-diving is to relax under pressure. Great skill to pick up these days. So I've made a habit of once a year gathering a group of tech world folks & dipping into the sea with my pal, former world champion free-diver Carlos Coste. For the 2nd trip we made a video. If you're keen to do something special with a free weekend I cannot recommend going to La Ventana with Carlos and his team to learn something totally new. In 3 days we had 4 minute breath-holds and 80ft dives from a group of total beginners! + plenty of wildlife too as the seas come back to life @Willob
