When we were kids, my mum and our neighbour had a serious quarrel. Bad one. The kind that shook the whole compound. After that day, they stopped greeting each other completely. If they passed each other on the street, both of them would just look straight ahead, as if the other person didn’t exist. Everybody in the compound noticed. One day I was walking with my mum when we passed the woman on the road. Just like always, both of them ignored each other. Then the woman looked down at me and said, “Good afternoon.” I faced my front and kept walking. I ignored her too. I thought I was being loyal to my mum. When we got home, my mum beat the living daylight out of me. Then she asked, “Why did you ignore her greeting?” I was confused. “Aren’t both of you fighting?” She looked at me and said, “What is between us is none of your business. She is your elder.” The next time I saw the woman, I greeted her properly and even apologized. She just laughed. She already knew what had happened. 😞

So this single lady who lives in the same compound with my boyfriend went knocking on his door early in the morning today to offer him fried rice. Bf thought it was Ramadan meal, but I told him to confirm. He called me now to tell me, she said she isn't a Muslim and that she gave him the food because she felt like eating fried rice, so she prepared it in excess and dished from it for him. It doesn't make sense fr. And he's not thinking what I'm thinking 🤦🏽‍♀️
