Iru Ekun Private Security Network by Chief Sunday Igboho now begins recruitment, and security operations. The purpose is to protect the lives of the people, their assets and properties from malicious attacks. A round of applause for Igboho Oosa. May Nigeria succeed again. May Yorubaland be successful ♥️👍❤️💯

Frame 1: Akara is not an Igbo word, it's a loanword. Frame 2: Egwusi/Egusi/Egunsi is not an Igbo word, it's a loanword. Melon seed is called "Elili/Enini" NB. This is not about superiority nor about tribalism, this is just to correct some misconceptions... Just a reminder😊

@stagurd1 @BachelorIdan It is no lie. Obasanjo(Yoruba) handpicked him to be VP, begged North to make him president for one term. Tinubu, Soyinka and other Yorubas protested to ensure he became acting President and gave him Southwest votes to become Prez. Only for him to start antagonising SW

@HAHayatu I was inside a bus on my way back from school when Ray Power radio station announced that Abacha had died. The bus erupted in celebration, so much that the driver didn't collect transport fare

Stop lying which entire country celebrated Abacha death ? You guys in south celebrated but up north we mourned. Some yeye boys even attempted celebrating in school when some few slaps touched them they went back to their shells.
Akin Olaoye@akintollgate

The day news of General Sani Abacha’s death broke, the entire country jubilated. Beyond his death in 1998, 🇳🇬 emerged from its dystopian era. The fear of mentioning his name in an Elelenwo beer parlor in port harcourt was a conscious feeling. Do your politics, but be sincere.🙏🏾

@StartArchiving I thought some people said Living In Bondage was the first Home Video and that it birthed Nollywood. See evidence against that falsehood.

"Home-made videos" — Citizen, 1991 Before his mainstream success with Living in Bondage in 1992, Kenneth Nnebue said he was inspired by the rich Yoruba cultural background of Hubert Ogunde's work. When he started NEK Video Links, the company's first major production was a Yoruba film titled Aje Ni Iyami (My Mother Is a Witch). By 1993, Kenneth Nnebue had produced 24 Yoruba and two Igbo films, including Living in Bondage.

@ClementOfUrhobo @Kushimo10 If we don't protect what our forefathers left for us, our own children won't enjoy whatever we leave for them because it will be stolen too. No one cares what Whites achieve. What matters is protecting what we achieved, then achieve more.

After Tinubu lost in Lagos in 2023, the Lagos APC was staring defeat in the face. Dayo Israel came 'crying' for help of Yoruba youths on this app with Yoruba Ronu tweets and speeches. That was how Yoruba conservatives got labelled 'Yoruba Ronu' by the Ibos, which we happily embrace. Let's wait to see what the Lagos APC will tell Yoruba youth when their backs are against the wall again.

@OtunbaBrickz All the names you mention had their major songs in Yoruba language e.gJunior and Pretty - Bolanle. Daddy Showkey had Yoruba choruses, likewise the other names. They all got influenced by Lagos lifestyle, which is Yoruba culture. That's why Yorubas deserve the credit. Gba f'oga e

I think you just want to argue bcos no where in what I wrote did I credit Nigerian popular music to a single person. infact the point of the tweet is to show that south south influence was foundational to nigerian popular music sound! I mentioned atleast 5 people (Daddy showkey, baba fryo, Mad melon, marvelous benjy, etc) before mentioning Junior & Pretty as being credited with the “first hit song”, meaning “bolanle” was the first hiphop infused song that had heavy rotation on mainstream platforms when the popular thing was disco, highlife, reggae, fuji & juju. Junior & Pretty were contemporaries of Daddy showkey & Baba fryo all from ajegunle which was one of the places where the sound originated!
T. Rânkïn' PisTola!@AfroVII

Stop trying to credit Nigerian Pop music to a single person or group. You can't disclaim Fela as its pioneer then post up Junior & Pretty. It makes no sense. Nigeria HAS ALWAYS POP MUSIC. When it was Rock, Soul, Highlife, Fuji, Juju, we had all of it. It didn't stop.

Nigerian popular music has a rich history. I grew up when Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh, Baba Fry-o, Junior and Pretty, Blackky, Danny Wilson and Esse Agese were a thing. I saw our music evolve. Omah Lay isn't that much younger than me, so I'm puzzled how little he seems to know.

@DapoAbiodunCON The roads your administration is constructing always have open drainages. The one in Magboro emits an offensive smell, making it unpleasant to walk along the road that also lacks walkways.

We remain committed to restoring roads that directly touch the lives of our people and strengthen local economies across Ogun State. Tai Solarin Road in Ikenne Town is one of such roads, and today, it is gratifying to see it reach practical completion under our administration. For a very long time, this road was in a terrible condition due to years of neglect. It became almost impassable, disrupting movement and hurting commercial activities in the area. We therefore intervened to ensure that the people of Ikenne once again have a safe, functional, and reliable road. Today, Tai Solarin Road has been restored as a major catalyst for economic activities in the town. Residents now move with ease, businesses are returning, and even when the expressway is congested, this road serves as a dependable alternative route. Ikenne is a town of rich heritage and national pride. It is home to Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Tai Solarin, a former Vice President of Nigeria, and several other notable Nigerians. It is also home to the famous Mayflower School, and the rehabilitation of this road will now provide easier, safer access to the school and the surrounding communities. We know how bad this road used to be. People were afraid to stop or trade here. But now, the story has changed. The market is alive again. People can park, stop, and buy and sell without fear. We thank God for this progress, and we remain resolute in delivering infrastructure that improves daily life and creates opportunities for our people. #BuildingOurFutureTogether #InfrastructureDevelopment #DapoAbiodun #OgunState #Ikenne

We have substantially completed the reconstruction of Tam Balogun Road in Ijebu-Ode, with all major asphalt works now finished under our administration’s ongoing drive to strengthen road infrastructure across Ogun State. The project is currently at about 98% completion, with only lane markings left to be carried out. With both the binder and final wearing courses in place, the road is fully motorable and already improving movement, safety, and travel time for residents and road users. This is one of several strategic road projects we are delivering to ease transportation, support local economic activities, and make daily commuting smoother for our people, as we continue to build a better and more connected Ogun State. #BuildingOurFutureTogether #RoadInfrastructure #DapoAbiodun
