@IMFulluvit @TkachukFanAcc @MrCombatSports @MrBigDoIt13 @ShamsCharania No one is arguing that tanking is good and punishing tanking is great, but say this does reduce/eliminate tanking. The bottom teams will just be teams that suck, and because they suck they get penalized. That shouldn’t be how it works

The NBA has disclosed to its 30 GMs a singular new anti-tanking reform that expands the draft lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds, and have a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams are penalized with fewer lottery balls for the No. 1 pick. ESPN details: espn.com/nba/story/_/id…

@wereaddictedX @TheDunkCentral Does the NBPA and Owners have to agree to this for it to be implemented? I don't see it happening. Maybe the Adam "clown show" Silver will grow a pair and push it through?

TLDR for the lazy people. Bottom 3 teams get worse odds for top pick, middle of pack team better odds for top pick. Now teams have to compete to not be a bottom team. Also no more back to back first round pick winners and no three consecutive years in a row of top 5 pick. Bottoming out is no longer a thing in the league. GG

NBA Proposes New Lottery System to Crack Down on Tanking: • Lottery expands from 14 → 16 teams Relegation zone (bottom 3 teams) gets fewer odds for No. 1 pick • Teams outside bottom 3 get better lottery odds (3 balls vs 2) • Play-in teams also receive lottery balls (varies by seed) • No team can win No. 1 pick in back-to-back years • No team can get 3 straight top-5 picks Picks 12–15 can no longer be protected • NBA can punish tanking by reducing odds or moving picks • System would run through 2029 (trial period) (Via @ShamsCharania )

@TheDunkCentral That's a good start. But the teams that have intentionally tanked, like the Jazz, for the last 3 years, should be fined and prevented from getting a first round draft pick. 30/30 defense efficiency 3 years in a row. There's no if. That's statistically guaranteed intent.

@BigBlindBets13 @Tr1ce_H1gh @ShamsCharania That's a Silver problem. He's a 1 man clown show that prioritizes money over game integrity. Always has. That's why players get injured. They fake it or it's real and they don't have to work. Salary is guaranteed. That's a huge part of the problem with the NBA's CBA.

@Tr1ce_H1gh @ShamsCharania Exactly whats going to happen and teams will be forced to move because the fanbase is gone. OKC,Spurs,Pistons,Celtics all got to rebuild from tanking and lottery but now no one else can

@TkachukFanAcc @MrCombatSports @MrBigDoIt13 @ShamsCharania "never be able to build a winner" "build a winner" What you really meant was "cheat to win". Intentionally losing is CHEATING. It's poor sportsmanship. It's asking guys to suit up and play half-assed for half a decade. To "build" that winning team. Do you hear yourself?

@MrCombatSports @MrBigDoIt13 @ShamsCharania But that’s literally what this is incentivizing??? Instead of being able to be bad and build a winning team if you’re bad you’ll get stuck with mid prospects and never be able to build a winner

@MrCombatSports @MrBigDoIt13 @ShamsCharania Jazz did it. After 3 years they've done something no other team has ever done: Finished dead last 30/30 in defense efficiency. Considering that's an impossibility without intent, the Jazz should be fined. A lot. $5M or more. Ainge fined. Smith fined and forced to sell.

@MrBigDoIt13 @ShamsCharania Watch Key play. He intentionally sucks on defense. There's no trying. He does it on purpose. And it's a near statistically impossible to be the worse defense in the league 3 years in a row without intent.

@ShamsCharania @utahjazz Ahahahahahaha. How's the dishonesty, cheating, intentionally losing, and throwing games working out? No doubt Ainge and Smith thought they could game the system like the Spurs and Pistons did the last decade. Jazz should have been fined $3M for 3 years of tanking.

@GovCox @MarianaMinerals Only makes sense while the price of copper is high. There's a lot of exporation and mines coming on line. When the initial $120M andresson horowitz investment runs out and it's not profitable, it will close again. Transportation fees are going to go way up due to diesel price.

Today, we made history in San Juan County. The first blast at @MarianaMinerals Copper One marks a return to building the materials that power American strength and security. Global copper demand could outstrip supply as soon as 2027. By 2050, we may need to produce as much copper as has been mined in all of human history to power energy, communications, and transportation. For too long, America outsourced the materials that power our future. Today, Utah is helping bring them back. Projects like Copper One create real opportunity in rural Utah, and help ensure we’re not dependent on adversaries for the resources that drive our economy and defend our nation. This is what it looks like to build again. 🇺🇸

Banning the local broadcasts in the first round and then not being able to watch your team tip off is another one of the many reasons Adam Silver is the worst commissioner in sports by a mile.

The Jones Act: Hiking prices to make a few shipping companies really rich All in the name of preparing to fight WWI all over again Repeal the Jones Act
Alex Epstein@AlexEpstein

The Jones Act requires cargo shipping between US ports to be US-built, US-owned, and US-crewed. It hurts our economy and makes US shipping uncompetitive. It's great that the admin is waiving the Jones Act through August. But Congress should kill the Jones Act for good.

Cash for Clunkers destroyed 690,000 functional vehicles in 2009, creating an artificial scarcity that rippled through used car markets for over a decade. The Obama administration sold this $3 billion program as environmental salvation and economic stimulus, but any free market economist could predict the real outcome: massive wealth destruction disguised as progress. The program forced dealers to pour sodium silicate into engines, permanently destroying cars that poor families could have afforded. Politicians eliminated the bottom tier of the used car market overnight. Suddenly, a reliable $3,000 Honda Civic became a $7,000 Honda Civic (if you could find one). The supposed beneficiaries — working-class Americans who needed affordable transportation — got priced out entirely. Government intervention always creates unseen victims, and Cash for Clunkers delivered them by the millions. Single mothers, college students, and minimum-wage workers watched their mobility options vanish as used car prices soared 30% between 2009 and 2014. The environmental gains proved negligible too: most clunkers averaged 15-17 MPG while replacements hit 24-25 MPG. Destroying half a million cars to improve average fuel economy by 8 MPG represents the kind of central planning that would give Soviet bureaucrats a hard-on. The wealth destruction extended beyond sticker prices. Higher transportation costs forced people into longer payment terms, creating a debt cycle that persists today. Cash for Clunkers normalized 84-month auto loans, turning cars from depreciating assets into multi-year financial anchors. Bureaucrats congratulated themselves for moving inventory off dealer lots while condemning an entire generation to transportation poverty.
