My honest assessment of the current situation is that the Israelis are being completely dominated by Hezbollah on the battlefield in southern Lebanon, the Syrian Golan Heights, northern "Israel", and Haifa + Tel Aviv -- so the only thing the Occupation is able to do is displace and murder civilians.

That is unfortunately not true. I would love for you to be able to return from exile as I respect your Palestinian national identity and your quest to self determination, but it is not superior or inferior to my own. This state was established by legal immigrants to the Ottoman Empire and later immigrants to the British mandate. Colonization and Immigration is not the same.

Neither have you. Did you expect me to go to Gaza and confront soldiers? If I was ever present in a situation where a child’s life was in danger I would protect them even if it meant my death, and I would do the same if the child was Palestinian and the attacker was an Israeli soldier for that matter.

Why do you suppose that people should be legitimate targets for their opinions? I don't. I would understand a resistance against armed soldiers or militia, not against the people who either support them or not. Otherwise, you have just justified the Gaza genocide. I don't think that any person in Gaza was a legitimate target just for supporting Hamas.

מדבר על עסקים פרטיים, לא על מרחב ציבורי. ברחוב ברור שכל אחד יכול לאכול מה שבא לו, בחדר אוכל של בי״ח - לא (כדי לא לפגוע במי שלא יכול לאכול בחדר שאינו כשר). אני לא בטוח שהמסורת תידחק הצידה - אם קהל גדול יחליט שהוא לא מסכים לקנות בסופר שמוכר חמץ בפסח או מוכר מזון לא כשר, הוא יפסיד הרבה מאוד לקוחות. כנ״ל כמובן, גם להפך. לכל סוג של מוצר או שירות יש נישה. יש היום סופרים שמוכרים חמץ וכמובן שגם מוצרים שאינם כשרים, אבל הם נאלצים לשלם על כך מחיר. זה בעיני קנס מיותר לחלוטין.

זה נשמע יפה בתיאוריה, אבל במציאות זה לא עובד ככה. מרחב ציבורי לא מתנהל לפי הכלל שכל עסק יעשה מה שבא לו, כי אז אין שום עוגן משותף. בדיוק בשביל זה יש סטטוס קוו וכללים שמבטאים את הזהות שלנו ולא רק שוק חופשי. אם הכל יהפוך לבחירה עסקית, המסורת תידחק החוצה כי היא אולי פחות כדאית ואז איבדת את הזהות הציבורית בלי שאף אחד באמת החליט על זה. ולכן זו לא סתם התערבות, זו שמירה על אופי המרחב המשותף, לא רק על מה שמוכר יותר טוב בקופה.

פעם היינו מחכים בקוצר רוח לחגים. תמיד היו חילונים ותמיד היו כאלה שלא שמרו כשרות, ועדיין היה כבוד בסיסי למסורת. בשנים האחרונות כל חג הופך לזירת התנגחות, עוד פרובוקציה ועוד ניסיון לבדוק גבולות. כאילו אין מציאות סביבנו, כאילו אנחנו לא במלחמה רק כי אנחנו יהודים. האויבים שלנו לא עושים הבחנה בין חילוני לדתי או בין ימין לשמאל, מבחינתם עצם הזהות שלנו היא הסיבה והרצון להשמיד אותנו. פסח זה חג יהודי, מדינת ישראל היא מדינה יהודית. רוצים חמץ, תאכלו בבית. לפגוע בעסקים ולכפות אג׳נדה על המרחב הציבורי, לא יקרה. די להפוך כל חג לזירת קרב!

כשמדובר במוצרים סגורים אני לא כ״כ רואה את הבעיה. אבל האמת היא שמה שהיה פותר את הכל בקלות הוא לו היו נותנים לכל עסק לבחור למכור לפי דרכו ורצונו. אם יש רוב גדול של אוכלי כשל״פ הרשתות הגדולות ממילא לא ימכרו חמץ, וזה כבר יהיה עניינן הבלעדי. שכל עסק יבחר מה למכור, מתי לעבוד, ושכל אחד יחליט איפה מתאים לו לקנות או לצרוך שירותים. ההתערבות של המדינה במקרה הזה רק גורמת לנזק ולעוגמת נפש לכולם.

אין כאן סימטריה. כשל״פ לא פוגע בך, אתה יכול לאכול חופשי. חמץ בפסח במרחב הציבורי כן מתנגש עם הסטטוס קוו והזהות היהודית. זה לא ״להקשות עליך״, זה כלל משותף במדינה עם זהות משותפת. וגם בוא נודה באמת בפועל יש חמץ למי שרוצה, פשוט לא בכל מקום. פסח זה שבוע אחד והיום כבר יש לכל דבר מספיק חלופות.
