one month ago A24's biggest hit ever was directed by a guy who called generative AI "cultural rot." this week they took 75 million dollars from Google to build AI tools.
- Kane Parsons made A24 over 300 million with Backrooms on a 10 million budget, zero generative AI
- he said he'd erase generative AI forever if he could snap his fingers
- A24 just signed a research partnership with Google DeepMind to build AI filmmaking tools
- Google now owns a stake in A24, the first time Alphabet has ever invested in a movie studio
the highest-grossing A24 film ever was made without AI. the lesson they took was the opposite.
