What are you supposed to do with your leg once you have made the tackle clearly winning the ball first? A good solid clean tackle while leaving one on the opponent shouldn’t result in a red card if the ball is clearly and cleanly won first! You may aswell remove all tackles from the game at this point and only allow non contact blocks as that’s where it’s heading.

The jury at Liverpool Crown Court found that Barton had "crossed the line between free speech and a crime" on six counts, following a five-day trial.
