When creating my X circle, I will choose quality over quantity every time. I would rather have 1000 followers who I share the same energy with than 10,000 followers who I can’t relate to.

Do you trust a person more if they occasionally post videos of themselves on X?

Personally, I think publicly posting accusations of art plagiarism and publicly naming specific artists is horrible for the NFT community. Nobody has the right to appoint themselves as Sheriff of the NFT community. Yes, art plagiarism is wrong, but any concerns that someone has should be handled privately through DMs with the artists, collectors, and marketplaces involved. Sadly, I think some people in the community destroy artists reputations without any due process because they want to feel important and increase engagement.

Is posting accusations of art plagiarism and specifically naming the accused artist good or bad for the NFT community?

@DD_ArtPulse @seanmundyphoto Yes, you regularly make serious allegations against artists so please do not dismiss your responsibilities. Your actions have real life consequences.

@JasonTezos @seanmundyphoto That’s a serious allegation Responsibility lies with the act, not the reporting of the act

@DD_ArtPulse @seanmundyphoto Remember, you are responsible for artists potentially not being able to feed their families. You have bestowed a lot of power and authority upon yourself.

Thank you, Sean. We know many are not aware of how many DMs we receive from artists asking for help. There’s also a lot of effort that goes into seeking clarification and answers before any report is filed or anything is shared publicly. Much of the work happens “behind the scenes” and is never posted. But when there is clear evidence, we don’t hesitate to warn collectors and the community.

@libertyvisions_ I doubt they always reach out in DM. Even if they do, they probably still ultimately make the accusation public. Maybe they just want to say that they reached out in DM to give the illusion of fairness.

@JasonTezos I'm sure everyone reaches out to the person in dms and when they don't get any responses back then they go public as they should! no one wants to invest in a thief 🤷🏻‍♀️

@JasonTezos @seanmundyphoto You have this all wrong man. They are not the Sheriff, judge, or jury. They simply research and present their findings. It’s up to the collectors/community/platforms to decide whether or not the plagiarism warrants any further action or consequences

@eyes_of_lamia Should the trial be conducted and the evidence be presented in the “court of public opinion” or should it be discussed privately?

@JasonTezos Well there's generally a presumption of innocence. It's on the accusing party to present some proof of their accusations. If the proof is not convincing or absent - then the only reputation damaged is that of the accuser. So it goes both ways.

@JasonTezos Agreed. Plus many accusations aren't based on anything and in case of mistake the damage is done.

@eyes_of_lamia How will the community know if it’s a false accusation? Once the accusation is publicly made, the damage to their reputation has already occurred.

@JasonTezos Not sure if I can see it through a lens of good or bad. If it's true and there's proof presented - people will see it. If it's false or inconclusive - people will see it. Stating something, supporting it with facts and letting people decide is as fair as can be.

@seanmundyphoto Should a 3rd party who is neither not involved in the transaction appoint themselves judge and jury and shame an accused artist? I understand if the artist whose work was plagiarized raises the issue.

@JasonTezos If their behaviour displays bad intentions and a willingness to lie to collectors and the public, they don't deserve a soft handed approach. Shaming is good when someone does something shitty and they know it. I can see a point for pieces in the "grey zone" being private though

@GenieveDawkins I think it’s totally fine for an artist to address it if they believe their art was plagiarized. My issue is with 3rd parties who throw mud at artists publicly. I think the motive is usually engagement farming.

@JasonTezos Depends. My art was plagiarized. I posted that it had been plagiarized and sold into a collection. I have never named, spoken to, nor do I ever intend to speak to the artist. If it's outright theft though, that needs to be publicly stated.

Confucius said: “We have two lives; the second begins when we realize we only have one.” In summer 2024, after 20 years at a high-paying job, I got laid off. I spent the next 6 weeks in my apartment trying to figure out what to do with my life. Then, I got on an airplane and flew to Europe. I spent most of the next year in the magical country of Georgia 🇬🇪 I married my best friend in Tbilisi last summer 💍 Now, I’m working at a job I really like (less pay, more joy). Happiness is personal. Ignore others' expectations about your education, career, and relationships. It’s your life. Your personal journey. Only you can define success 🚀

Life is strange: the woman I’m attracted to wants someone less intellectually deep than me, while a woman I’m not interested in is drawn to my intellectual depth. still alone anyway and a little bit sad
