It’s no secret that FanDuel TV will eventually be closing shop. From camerawoman to feature producer, I spent 23 years dedicating my life to telling stories to horse racing fans. And when I say I dedicated my life, I truly mean it. Just like every other horse racing employee around the world, there is something about this business that pulls you in and never lets go. You give it your heart and soul. You sacrifice your family, your time, your friends—for a community that somehow becomes your family, your life, your friends. It’s hard to describe this kind of dedication, but everyone in horse racing understands it. It’s a different world. Is it the horses? Or is it the people you meet along the way—the ones who make the same sacrifices, who live the same life, who understand without you ever having to explain it? When we received the news that we would no longer be part of a network we poured our heart and soul into, the first thing we all thought about wasn’t ourselves—it was about the people we’re about to lose. The coworkers who became family. The horse racing enthusiasts now searching for their place in an industry that doesn’t have many places to go. The people who have been living this life twice as long as I have. It’s a shame it has to come to an end. But I will never forget the relationships we built, the memories we made, the years on the road with my HRTV/TVG/FanDuel TV family. The storylines that touched us. The races that shocked us. The racetracks that welcomed us. The backsides that smelled like horse shit—but somehow felt like a breath of fresh air every morning. Watching the sunrise. Saying “good morning” to every single person you pass. Feeding peppermints to horses you fall in love with. Cheering for horsemen you may not even know—but feel like you do, because you told their story. Everyday people don’t understand this. They don’t even know this world exists. Horsemen do. I’m in TV, but in a lot of ways, I consider myself a horseman too. I don’t ride horses. I can’t train horses. I don’t even bet on horses. But I understand this life. I understand this industry. And I will miss all of it. But more than anything, I will miss the family I found along the way—especially my FanDuel TV family. You know who you are. And we will always be family.

Regarding the name Marcus Aurelius, the registrar's office has reviewed the matter. The name was erroneously approved this past January. The owner of the horse in question has accepted a name change. Marcus Aurelius is ineligible for use until January 1, 2027.

With the heaviest of hearts we share the news that Trademark lost his winter long battle with pneumonia. We threw every thing at it but this resistant infection took him. He wasn’t just a horse. He was family and a warrior soul who gave us thrills and memories we’ll never forget!

Aftercare absolutely needs more money—but it also needs a better model. I’m not against paying more; I’m against pretending another fee is a plan. The irony is that the U.S. actually leads the world in aftercare: national accreditation, TAA grants, OTTB sport incentives, adoption pipelines, and a culture that celebrates second careers. That’s real progress, and it’s worth being proud of. A serious plan starts with a revolution in aftercare models, not just maintenance. It looks like creative land partnerships that scale second careers, accreditation that prioritizes responsible transition over permanent warehousing in sanctuaries, and programs that put Thoroughbreds back to work—ridden, shown, cared for, and loved. It also means imagination for the next generations: funding first lessons for kids, backing initiatives like Thoroughbred Renaissance, and scaling groups like Amplify so inspiration comes from education.

Remember Niven, the unraced Thoroughbred who's making his way to the top of international showjumping sport with owner/rider Michel Feitosa? This son of Lemon Drop Kid was selected as Team Brazil's reserve at the Nations Cup last week. Check out his clean round in the 1.45 m!

The Jockey Club recently announced the release of the ID My Thoroughbred app, which enables users to access Thoroughbred information using a microchip number recorded with The Jockey Club. The app provides the horse’s name and detailed markings as well as registration photos if location access is enabled. The ID My Thoroughbred app coincides with The Jockey Club’s Traceability Initiative. On the long list of changes needed in this industry, maximum class drop absolutely needs to be implemented. We clearly can’t rely on connections to always act in the best interest of the horses.

9yo MGSW $770k Masteroffoxhounds is in for $15k at FG on 3/9. I helped raise him/had him in my barn as an assistant. I’ve been keeping tabs on him and have offered unsuccessfully help to his connections when he’s ready to retire. I am happy to contribute however I can.

🙏 amen oh, and by the way, part of the initiative we’re putting forth… horses that compete in the RRP, TAKE2 and TIP will have monster incentives follow them, moving forward to reward those that come through these existing programs. We want this to be building bridges of a symbiotic nature of collaboration.
