I can shut this down pretty easily — the Clippers were never close to trading Kawhi. Were there internal discussions? Sure. But it never got anywhere near serious.

A deal was never close lol. The Clippers had little real interest in trading Kawhi. People outside the Clippers bubble forget how much Steve Ballmer values staying competitive—moving your best player for picks just isn’t something he’s entertaining, especially not at the deadline.
