Your tweet nailed it 'The Golden State is cooking its golden geese' The high pay, high innovation tech layer is leaving California, but there’s a huge risk the underlying problem simply follows the industry to places like Texas. Have you considered putting things in place to prevent the next cooked goose. I gave it some thought to a practical company fix to counter tech workforce capture. The tech guys that headed to Texas early are likely to be the pragmatic escapees who are already fed up with the taxes, regs & cultural monoculture. They put the operations on their feet. But as operations scale up, the using the office photocopier for activism flyers crowd will arrives, plus companies will commence hiring from the same university pipeline that has been churning out strident, low curiosity graduates for decades. The lag is real, the hard core activists don’t show up for the uncertainty period, they arrive once the heat is on and the political resource chain is running. As you've no doubt seen the university skew is now extreme Heterodox Academy 2026 review. Yale’s 2025 Buckley Institute report: left leaning faculty ratios from 5:1 to 82:1 in many fields, with entire departments having few even moderately centre & zero Republicans. We've now all seen some of the countless videos of graduates repeating baseless claims with total confidence because their education was in fact training, not education & that training rewarded narrative over evidence. That’s lethal to productivity, invention & the long term health of any project, the company & eventually the town, city & state. Tech companies aren't just the cooked goose, they employ the people writing the goose recipes. If any of this is right, tech can't wait for society or government to fix academia. You, they need to run your own inoculation program right now. Things like Monthly Reality Calibration Sessions. Mandatory 2 hour 'This Month’s News Autopsy' or 'I Can’t Believe They Wrote/Said This' sessions. Pull real viral claims, media stories & social media posts & videos from the previous 30 days that turned out false, baseless, both plus arrogant & abusive. Rotate presenters, philosophers of science, statisticians, journalists who’ve been publicly corrected, walk through primary sources, data gaps & over the mountain of logical failures. At least one upper manager participating each time to model engagement. Record sessions for new hires. Introduce epistemologist vetted hiring questions. Maybe hire a small panel of actual epistemologists (absolutely no camouflaged activists) to design a few scenario based questions. With the focus strictly on process, not conclusions. For example, Present candidates with a now debunked viral claim & ask them to walk through how you would have evaluated the evidence at the time. Or ask the candidates, What questions would you ask about a study before trusting the company’s decision based on it? Assess for curiosity, base rate thinking & the necessary intellectual humility that allows for fact based education & real learning potential. Recruitment slogans almost write themselves. Real earning potential requires real learning potential. It signals that top compensation comes with the demand for genuine curiosity and epistemic honesty, the exact filter that will keeps companies from importing California’s capture problem. The pragmatists may love it, as it's too high a hurdle for the strident repeaters of baseless claims. Frame the whole thing as evidence based decision making & intellectual rigor, viewpoint neutral, legal & cheap. It filters for the exact people that will help growth & public trust, it keeps the new workforce grounded before the activist layer takes root. (And they will try) If you do this early in Texas or any new hub, you might head off the next cooked goose cycle. The companies that implement something like it can be more productive, more innovative & far less likely to repeat the California mistakes.

🚨 The company that literally invented Silicon Valley just packed up and LEFT California for good. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) — born in a tiny Palo Alto garage in 1939 with just $538 — has officially relocated its global headquarters to the Houston area in Texas. This isn’t just any tech company. It’s the iconic firm that defined American innovation, created the blueprint for Silicon Valley, and powered the modern digital world. Now its top executives are gone from San Jose. Governor Greg Abbott welcomed them with open arms, calling Texas the best place to do business. Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom’s office responded with a cold shrug: “Companies come and go.” No press conference. No plan. Just three dismissive words. Over 350 companies have fled California in recent years, citing sky-high taxes (13.3% top rate), crushing regulations, and insane costs. Texas has zero state income tax — saving top executives hundreds of thousands annually. The symbolism is brutal: the birthplace of Silicon Valley just rejected its own home. If even the company that started it all can’t justify staying, what does that say about the future of every business still in California?

Someone should ask Kathleen Kingsbury editorial board Opinion Editor, what the motivating factor was either contributing to or waving through a description of the 0.8% recividism rate of j6's as a reoffending crime spree, when the national average rate is 43%. Was it click bait, ignorance, lack of research, political bias, because it sure couldn't have been an overwhelming desire for clear, honest fact based reporting. Or just plain old poor quality work.

Educators should be ashamed when they see/hear these people. I'd like to see govt commission public inquires. University, college, school leaders, lectures need to be shown some of the countless videos of their students, past students all giving the same false answers in the same strident tone & questioned on how they intended to address it. The similarities that exist, false info, strident delivery, low thought capacity, inability to contrust fact based thought... all point to these people & this problem being created by people working in education. Education institutions need to be held accountable for failing to educate & failing to teach self education techniques. Never seen anything like what exists today, they are like robots

Any notice the power of the Israeli flag. It identified these two men as safe & tolerant even of utterly shamelessly ignorant & abusive white woke women. On seeing that flag, this young white woman, (who in my opinion should be fired, expelled, the subject of ridicule & public condemnation) dressed in a mini skirt, felt SAFE enough to launch the most shockingly ignorant, arrogant, incredibly patronizing & frankly abusive tirade at two middle eastern men on a night time city street. So sure was she that their possession of that flag meant they wouldn't assault her, she proceeded to point her finger at them shouting insults about their intelligence, mocking them, mocking their knowledge of the middle east situation, patronizing them, call them idiots. They, these woke liberals are the ones with the white superiority complex, the fake respect fell away in an instant to reveal the full horror of the thing beneath.

Apologies to the millions of British men & women that are undoubtedly chaffing at the bit to fire up a return of the Great part of Britain & who have the backbone to achieve it, but politically crafted nonsense to try & paper over cracks Starmer has been widening into gaping caverns is just insulting to everyone. Britain rolls out the press statement: 'We’re the world leaders in autonomous mine hunting' Cue the Union Jack emojis and MoD fanfare. Mate… sit down, you look weak enough to fall over as it is. Your MMCM kit (Ariadne, Adventure, SWEEP, the fancy Thales sonar toys) is clever & portable, AI enabled, crew risk reduced. Fair play old chap. But world leader implies you can actually do the job solo in the places it matters. (And the way Starmer treats allies, that might be a reality you should prepare for, unless of course he's set Britain on a, if you can't beat them, join them path) Test it in a real war zone say, clearing the Strait of Hormuz under fire and the whole thing falls apart faster than a Hunt class in a force 8. * One dedicated mothership (Stirling Castle) parked (of course it is) in UK waters for trials. *Forward Gulf host platform? A rushed conversion of an RFA logistics barge that was never built for contested littorals. *Persistent presence? Basically a couple of air liftable crates and prayers of choice. You don’t have the hulls, escorts, hardened forward bases, or the mass to sustain independent ops. Oh & that world leading British system? A joint France/UK program from day one. America (remember them) already has LCS ships with full MCM packages forward deployed in Bahrain, doing the actual gritty work the RN used to handle with crewed minehunters before quietly sailing them home in time for afternoon tea & scones. Even Belgium and the Netherlands are commissioning their own unmanned toolbox fleets on the same timeline. Strip away the allies contributions, (assuming Starmer hasn't patronized, virtue signalled, undermined, condemned, abandoned or impeded them all out of the picture) French tech integration, American forward infrastructure and scale, NATO logistics (America again) along of course with Israeli & American intelligence operations & your 'world leading' equation doesn’t add up. It’s a solid school group project with excellent British PR. Leadership isn’t the kit in the box. It’s the ability to use it, alone, when the balloons go up. Rule the waves? No. Rule the headlines, maybe. #DefenceRealityCheck

Yes, confirmed. This is footage from the IDF's September 19, 2024, counterterrorism raid in Qabatiya (near Jenin), West Bank. Duvdevan commandos killed four armed gunmen in a firefight after surrounding a building; a drone strike later killed three more terrorists (including local terror network head Shadi Zakarneh). The video shows soldiers removing the bodies of adult militants from a rooftop—not a child or torture. IDF opened an investigation into the handling, stating it didn't align with their values. The original claim misrepresents it as recent and involving a "kid."

Oh stop it. Did Starmer write that line from under his desk. Hoping people might somehow be fooled into thinking his weak pandering & appeasement politics, his blocking of US forces using bases, his constant condemning & undermining of any & all actual efforts to end the murderous Iranian regime, inspired anything more than puzzlement in that regime. The claim just doesn't match the facts, the chants, the missiles, or the money flow to proxies. Iran doesn't react to Starmers Britain like it reacts to America or Israel. If the millions of British people that are desperate for the return of the old Britain, that inspired fear in extremists, but trust & loyalty in its allies see their pick win in the next election, Britain will soon be back at the hated by extremist regimes most hated top table.

4 The Dangerous Precedent: Opinion Based Policing as a Growth Industry Accept this as standard practice and the slope is not slippery it is a greased luge. Individual officers or units, armed with s. 319's vague hatred threshold and the never very reliable complaint driven process, will expand their field of play. Today: You may not say mosques are used by terrorists. Tomorrow: climate dissent, vaccine policy, border security or any other public interest matter, where a well organized complainant group dislikes the facts. Police discretion is real, but it is bounded by law. Once they claim competence to adjudicate geopolitical truth, every future hate complaint becomes a fishing expedition into opinion. That is not law enforcement, it is the slow nationalization of thought. The Charter's s. 2(b) freedom of expression exists precisely to prevent this. Keegstra itself warned that overbroad application undermines the very values hate speech laws purport to protect. I'm not an expert or even Canadian, but I'd be willing to bet if a team of legal experts (actual experts not the jack of all trades local unit in Ottawa) pursued this to the highest court, it'd turn out the Ottawa Police Service had zero statutory authority to demand deletion on the basis of validity. They had zero qualification to assess the military realities of the Iranian regime. And they had zero business converting a factual, evidence backed critique of a hostile theocracy into a de facto state endorsement of that theocracy's operational cover. The only reason I took notice is because this was not policing, not the policing that the majority of citizens across every western nation are calling out for and it's happening all over the west, often not only to the detriment of individuals, but to Western societies. It was & is policy by stealth and bad policy at that, wherever it takes place in the west. But it may be more than just bad policy when it starts taking place in Canada, or any of the other nation bound as allies in the five eyes intelligence group Britain, Australia, New Zealand or America. A group connected for those purposes should be very aware & concerned when any of their number start allowing policy by stealth, particularly when the beneficiaries are terrorists in a nation the world has labeled the number one state sponsor of terrorism, a regime that has caused thousands of deaths & is in open conflict with the west & western ideals. At a minimum people charged with nation security have to start asking whether the security relationships we used to take for granted are still trustworthy.

3 This Is Not Mere Personal Opinion of an Ottawa police officer or a Unit. It Becomes Official Police (and Therefore Government) Judgement Sounds crazy right, but the only thing that was crazy was the overreach. Because when OPS acts under colour of Criminal Code authority and the political executive does not immediately countermand it, the action carries the imprimatur of the Canadian state. Silence equals acquiescence. By pressuring deletion of the statement "Iranian mosques are terrorism hubs," OPS effectively declared the opposite as the operative Canadian position: Iranian terrorists do not use mosques for staging, personnel, or weapons. And if they do the west & it's military must pretend they don't. That is now, by default, the Government's evidentiary stance. Pull that thread further. Canada is a High Contracting Party to the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocol I. Under AP I, Article 52(2), civilian objects (including places of worship) lose protection the moment they are used to make an "effective contribution to military action." Article 52(3) gives a presumption in doubt but only where doubt exists. Where evidence (video, intelligence) shows military use, the object becomes a lawful military target. International humanitarian law does not grant blanket diplomatic immunity to dual use facilities it demands distinction. By shielding the factual discussion of that military use, Canada is not merely chilling speech it is granting extra legal protection to Iranian regime assets beyond what the Geneva Conventions require or permit. That is not neutrality, it is de facto complicity in blurring the civilian military line that every other Western democracy claims to uphold when it suits them. A government observer reading this should already feel the fabric tearing: Hang on… did we via a small unit in Ottawa Police just accidentally endorsed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's operational playbook as 'protected religious practice'?
