In 2016 Norway gave every 5-year-old child an iPad. Within a few years, Norway's reading scores plummeted and dropped below the OECD average. They ranked dead last out of 65 countries. Now Norway is spending millions of dollars to reverse this trend and get people reading.

And people die. The villains in “state death” are not winged and horned beasties but personable grown ups who get paid a shed load to wild swim and order team building lunches from Pret….and simply do not connect their lack of action and conscience to what happens next
Professor Lucy Easthope@LucyGoBag

This inquiry seems to have been able somehow to crystallise in excruciating detail the malaise, the slow, malicious incompetence and “we will need to move those answers to the next meeting” that has completely engulfed public sector and health governance in last ten years

Worth watching if you are thinking of voting for the Scottish Liberal Democrats on 7 May. It's funny: I haven't seen any mention of their intention to review the Equality Act and Gender Recognition Act in any of their election literature. Still, good to know that's their aim.
teresa smith@treesey

From the @LibDems leader @EdwardJDavey Speaking yesterday to a trans Lib Dem councillor in Manchester: He says the EHRC guidance will be ‘impossible’ & that the @LibDems now want ‘a review’ of the Equality Act He says that Marie Goldman has been doing ‘a great job’

Even more extraordinary, seven months after Rennie was jailed, BBC Children in Need decided to award, for the first time, a grant of £24,000 to LGBTYS.

The Supreme Court ruling did not change the law a yr ago, it clarified it. Single sex spaces/provision IS the law. The guidance is irrelevant. If you want to change the law then put that through parliament. Greens/Lib Dems/Labour just be honest about it. Do the work. Stop lying.

Reading this, feeling physically sick. Women aren’t safe with their own partners. That’s the reality. Men are. TEACHING rape. And yet so many still act like this isn’t their problem. If you’re not calling this out, you’re part of the silence that lets it happen.

@GoodLawProject Whether that's to keep up your personal public profile, or to win brownies points with your offspring, I don't know - but it's dishonest, fraudulent and ultimately in direct opposition to interests of the people you claim to champion. You're an absurd and mendacious individual.

@GoodLawProject Your donors needs to know that you keep on asking for their money for cases you have no standing to even argue, let alone win. *You* know this, but they don't. You know that someone who *has* standing could take these cases and win, but you keep them for yourself, Jolyon.

The government was forced to admit the EHRC’s transphobic draft guidance got it wrong, and they’ve had to send it back. But the fight is far from over. They plan to bring an updated version back to parliament in May. So we need to act – fast 👇 action.goodlawproject.org/force-governme…

Hey @johnswinney, on a scale of 0-10, how ashamed are you that a group of Scottish women - For Women Scotland - have met the UK Equalities Minister and home of the Prime Minister before you have bothered to meet them? @ForWomen

@glosswitch @SoniaRGallego The anger of some men that the women were found to be right has been a huge tell. As has the language they use to voice it. I am also baffled as to why Campbell thinks that sex being binary and immutable is so offensive. You might as well be offended by gravity.

It’s very much besides the point but imagine changing your name from Calum to Misty Calanthia Delamothe 👀 Also the size of him! He towers over most blokes let alone the women he wants to share spaces with

Pornography shapes users’ attitudes and behaviours. The longitudinal evidence consistently demonstrates this. Associations between #pornography and sexual attitudes and behaviours are *not* due to ‘selective exposure’. Wright (2021), in PDF here: dropbox.com/s/eqdyw32d1x3v…

@soniasodha Is this the clearest example of everyday misogyny we have? Women can't even get a Supreme Court ruling implemented. If this was about anyone but women, we'd have had apocalyptic front pages of the neutering of the highest court in the land and the end of the rule of law.

It's been a year today since the Supreme Court judgment, and: -Bridget Phillipson still hasn't laid accurate guidance before Parliament -She still hasn't taken the old, bad guidance out of circulation -The government itself still has unlawful policies. Unacceptable. (🔗 next)
