I have a suitcase full of of newspapers and journals in the U.S. and Europe from May and early June 1967. I really don’t give an aardvark’s excrement about what Google or Grok say. First of all, the Egyptians, Jordanians and Syrians never stopped attacking Israel since their combined invasion of 1948. Expeditionary forces were sent from every Arab nation from Iraq to Algeria. By the end of May, they bluntly said the final battle to destroy Israel and exterminate its Jews was here. But even that discussion exists within the context of Egyptian troop mobilization in Sinai, the expulsion of UN peacekeepers, and renewed closure of the Straits of Tiran—again by Nasser. Those are not trivial details; they’re the core of why the crisis escalated into the Six-Day War. Pulling isolated quotes or saying “Google 1956” doesn’t demonstrate knowledge—it sidesteps it. The historical record shows a cycle of action and reaction, including clear evidence of Egyptian-backed fedayeen violence prior to 1956, not a one-sided story of unprovoked Israeli aggression. Pick up a history book and stop projecting your insecurities on to others.

I grew up watching what regimes and militias did in Syria and Lebanon while constantly hearing that all of it was Israel’s fault. That was the story. But it didn’t match reality. We lived humiliation, corruption, fear. We stood for hours at checkpoints, bribed officials for basic rights, feared prisons where people disappeared. We watched regimes claim to fight for Palestine while crushing their own people without mercy. And still, we were told to sacrifice more. For Palestine. At our expense. So yes, let me be clear: Do I stand with Israel against those who destroyed our countries in the name of that cause? Any day. Anytime. Because I have seen what they did to us. And when I went to Israel, I saw something I was never supposed to see: a functioning country—a society with rights, accountability, and dignity—something my own region denied us. My statement re Prohibiting the Latin Patriarch of entering Church of Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday: While all Holy sites in the Old City are closed due to safety concerns for mass gatherings including the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al Aqsa Mosque, the action today by the Israel Nat'l Police to deny Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and 3 other priests from entering the Church to offer a blessing on Palm Sunday is an unfortunate overreach already having major repercussions around the world.  Home Front Command Guidelines restrict any gatherings to 50 people or less.  The 4 representatives of the Catholic Church were well below that restriction.  Statements from the Gov't of Israel indicate the action to prohibit Cardinal Pizzaballa entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were for safety reasons, but churches, synagogues, and mosques throughout Jerusalem have met with the restrictions of 50 or less.  For the Patriarch to be barred from entry to the Church on Palm Sunday for a private ceremony is difficult to understand or justify. Israel has indicated it will work with the Patriarch to accommodate a safe means of carrying out Holy Week activities.
