💡What can voles teach us about friendship? @UCBerkeley study found that voles lacking oxytocin receptors are slower to form bonds. This #research sheds light on the neurobiology of social bonds, which could inform studies on human psychiatric conditions. bit.ly/3UrPPGi

Voles lacking oxytocin receptors don't like to make new friends, and show *decreased* oxytocin release, defying the pattern of other hormones by showing positive feedback! Read more here: tinyurl.com/546zbawr and: tinyurl.com/j4e22b2h

@RavirajBanakar @plantae_org Not sure ... we've delivered up to 40/50 kDa but have simply not tried anything larger yet. Working out the last steps of protein purification for larger CPP-tagged nuclease cargoes - more to come soon :)

We have discovered plant cell penetrating peptides! Tag your protein of interest with these small peptides for direct protein delivery to plants! tiny.cc/8g5i001 @plantae_org | #NIFAImpacts

@Ella_Maru @plantae_org good question! it seems so, but we are looking for the plant analogous trafficking domain; it could make the penetrating peptides more efficient

Simple addition of an anionic polymer to standard PEG transfection workflows increases RNP-based protoplast editing by 10 to 20-fold! Inspired by @MarsonLab's beautiful prior work. Check out our new preprint for details: tinyurl.com/3anwved2

@TrevorCampbell_ @KWhiteheadLab @RLPlikesscience Agree! Administration mode will likely matter, but the corona will always be hard to prevent. Would be fun to brainstorm ways - beyond PEG - of shielding against corona formation or engineering pre-formed coronas with proteins that won't hinder mRNA delivery.

Wow, really interesting paper! Will have to dig deeper. Makes a lot of sense, but also seems like this will be pretty challenging to prevent I also wonder how much of an effect application method vs target tissue will play in the degree of corona fouling (for example, inhalation delivery to target lung tissue may see less of this effect due to direct application to the target tissue without as much in-vivo residence time and non-target interaction)

29% (!!!) of papers published in top bio journals (incl some of our own prior work😓) contain data distortion in figures that mis-represent research findings! We welcome feedback on our preprint & recommendations to avoid these errors moving forward: t.ly/rvUkg

An interdisciplinary group of researchers from the @M_delCarpio & @AnnalieseBeery labs is exploring the molecular mechanisms of friendship in prairie voles using fluorescent carbon nanotube sensors. Read more in this story from grad student Sophia Tomatz bit.ly/3TVEgXV
