I went on an indefinite break from VRChat world creation back in May, with the intention to explore other platforms/options. I won't be returning to VRC as a world creator anymore, the break from it is now permanent. So what did I choose? Standalone games for platforms like Steam. I plan to keep making games for PC VR first (with desktop/non-VR support too), as I fall into the group that desperately want more PC VR games that aren't held back by untethered/mobile VR parity. Mobile VR support will be considered after the pc versions are complete, if doable. How can I? if I don't like the growing complexity of vrc world dev? I'm using a standalone version of Cyantrigger and with the help of my close friends at Studio CyFi, & the transition has been really smooth to standalone. I think this is a key part of my choice and it not being an empty promise, as I'm not working in the dark here. If I need help with something (which is a lot) I have my friends to help me through it. Plus, I have access to everything game devs have the freedom to use like plugins/scripts from asset store. So do I have a project in development? Not yet. I'm in the R&D phase, learning lots of new techniques & aspects of coding to help in future projects. I am already at the stage that I can recreate everything I've done from my past worlds, so anything I learn now is completely new stuff I lacked the skill to do before. A big focus of this R&D phase is learning how to make more advanced NPC/enemy logic, since I want to do more combat heavy projects. 2026, whats the plan? I want to be more open with what I'm working on, sharing stuff I'm happy with and also stuff that I've found difficult so far, so you can keep track of my journey to making my first standalone game for PC VR. @TC_Poole This came suddenly, and hit many creators, including Cyan. That said, VRChat needs to take responsibility for essential workflows so no one creator bears the full weight again.I hope VRChat takes this seriously and supports non-code creators to make worldbuilding more accessible.

This has def been a learning experience for me. I've learned not to invest my world(s)' livelyhood on such unsturdy grounds. > I was unaware of the not-so-great relationship cyan had/has with VRC as a whole. - I'm sure I wan't the only one. - I'm still going to take the time remove (slowly) cyan from my worlds. Not because of the tool, but because of the volatile creator. I'm not going to continue my web of interconnected worlds knowing that this integral tool could be taken away from me at anytime. Maybe I'm late to the party and everyone is aware of this. It was all new to me. And really caused 72 hours of unessesary anxiety in my life. If I would have built my worlds, or better yet, just built my own game, then I wouldn't be subject to this kind of drama.

I'm going on an indefinite break from vrchat world creation. I personally feel that I don't fit into VRChat's vision of what a world creator should be/ not in their target market. Its been 7 long years though of working on worlds almost daily (those that know me well, know I didn't really take breaks). I enjoyed making the worlds i've made, I'm super proud of them all, I got to fulfill a childhood dream of one day making games. Thank you to everyone that has enjoyed or continues to enjoy my work. 🥳😎 I'll still attend events and I'll be first in line to play the latest adventure worlds from other creators😁(for me those worlds will always get me to log into to vrc). But as a creator, I've lost the motivation to keep making things for this platform after recent events. This may change over time, i'm certainly open to see VRChat change but I'll also be looking into other platforms and options as well as seeing if I even want to continue creating vr content in the future. ✌️

The new VRChat sdk is not compatible with CyanTrigger. If this affects you, voice your concerns to @VRChat and include specifics on why the official tools do not provide what you need. Do not rely on unofficial tools. Community members shouldn't be responsible for creators.

@LakuzaVR “This is not fixable on our end.” @VRChat So that’s it? CT breaks in 3.8.1, making the one tool non-coders relied on deprecated, and its dev burned out doing what VRChat wouldn't: making logic accessible. Udon is complex. Please give us a solution. Don’t leave creators behind.

latest patch notes from VRChat, looks like cyantrigger won't be supported going forward which cuts off a lot of world creators like myself🫡 VRChat never made a viable alternative to cyantrigger in the 5 years of sdk3 being a thing. Learning C# just for vrchat world creation is pointless, since I can just go standalone releases instead (not being a programmer was literally the only thing keeping me tied to vrchat since there was a way for me to make games without being one). So, I there probably won't be any new worlds from me in VRChat. Need to think about what I'm going to do going forward 😰
