@MASSforRep has introduced a two-bill package of legislation that would defend Rhode Islanders’ right to repair their own belongings. “At this time most farmers have to have their tractors towed way to a dealer to have their tractors fixed when they break down,” said Rep. Shallcross Smith. “This current procedure is costly and time consuming. During yesterday's House session, @MASSforRep introduced a resolution proclaiming today, February 11, as #211Day in the state of Rhode Island. The resolution is online: webserver.rilegislature.gov/BillText/BillT… @liveunitedri 211 is a free and confidential service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, connecting Rhode Islanders to essential health and human services, including housing assistance, food access, mental health resources, and disaster response. As Rep. Shallcross Smith noted, "last year alone, United Way's 211 received 213,000 requests for assistance, while also collecting data that has proved invaluable for us here at the House creating public policy." Rep. Shallcross Smith also welcomed staff from United Way to the House: Cortney Nicolato, President & CEP; Cristina Amedeo, Senior Director of Community Services; and Seileak Houth, Data & Systems Manager.
