This was ended in RI because of the cruelty to the greyhounds. Let's see if the animal-friendly legislature places profits over animal cruelty. Do they love "revenue" more than "animal rights."
katherine gregg@kathyprojo

Opponents say state can't afford to lose the $: On Tues, before hearing on bill to ban wagering on "simulcast" greyhound races at RI casino, @projo asked @RILottery how much state makes. Lott referred Q to Revenue which referred it DBR. Friday: waiting. providencejournal.com/story/news/pol…

@kb95221258 @GovDanMcKee Because polling has shown that he was on the wrong side of almost every issue, and if he'd like to remain in office he needs to turn HARD to the right.

Eliminating the state tax on Social Security is just the beginning. My Affordability for All agenda also proposes $215M in tax relief (in year one alone!) for Rhode Islanders by lowering electric bills, cutting the gas tax, and more.

@MikeWChip @GovDanMcKee If those numbers reflect the average income of 2 person household (husband +wife both working) then that means the average 25-64 year old makes $46k/year gross & the average 45-64 individual makes $52,500/year gross. After taxes their take home is even less.

Seniors on fixed incomes are often hit hardest by rising costs for health care and daily needs. RI is one of the few states that taxes Social Security—it’s time to change that. My Affordability for All agenda would eliminate this tax and deliver relief. wpri.com/money/mckee-pr…

@dgbart79 @GovDanMcKee That's not even remotely true. Under 25 - $48,000 – $53,000 25-44 - $92,000 – $93,000 45-64 - $105,000 65+ $56,000 - $60,000 RI median incomes (US Census)

@GovDanMcKee Seniors are the ones with the most income, nowadays. They’ve had 70 or 80 years to build fortunes. They have houses bought for $50k that are now worth $600k, pricing younger folks out of the market. They get enough benefits from society. Better to lower taxes on people under 50.

Rhode Island stands with Michigan and with the members of Temple Israel. The Jewish community, and people of every faith, deserve to gather and worship without fear of violence—anything less is a travesty of our nation’s values.

As RIers, this is rare to see, but good when it happens. A lame-duck Dem, with grudges against current leadership, actually says it the way it is. We don't get this type of honesty from Dems looking to be reelected, but when there's a grudge match? Pure transparency.
Peter Neronha@PFNeronha

There’s been NO rollout for years. The reason for that unprecedented delay is simple. The pre-existing stores have no interest in sharing the market. And the McKee Administration - present and former leadership included at the Commission - has yielded to their influence.
